Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Man Sentenced in Norwalk Sex-Trafficking Case

NORWALK, Conn. – A New York man has been sentenced for his role in a Norwalk prostitution ring, according to David B. Fein, U.S. attorney for Connecticut.
This is an account of what happened, according to Fein: Harry Franklin, aka “Streets” and “Uncle Stacks,” 27, of the Bronx, N.Y., was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in Bridgeport to 51 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for his involvement in an interstate prostitution enterprise that included the sex trafficking of two minor victims.
Franklin, his cousin Theodore “Peejaye” Briggs, Giovanni Vazquez and others were involved in a prostitution business that Briggs ran out of his Norwalk apartment. In 2010, Franklin introduced Briggs to a woman and a 14-year-old girl who subsequently began to work in Briggs’ prostitution business. Franklin also helped facilitate the transportation of women and minors between Connecticut, New York and New Jersey to engage in commercial sex acts.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Bronx man sentenced to prison for role in Norwalk prostitution ring

The defense claimed that Franklin wanted to impress Briggs by introducing him to the girls, because Briggs was also a rapper and had access to a state-of-the-art recording studio. The defense further asserted that Franklin did not profit from the prostitution ring, and he did not know that the 14-year-old was underage.
Briggs was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison. Giovanni Vasquez, who is accused of driving the prostitutes across state lines to meet with customers, is awaiting sentencing.
In his sentencing memorandum, U.S. Attorney David B. Fein wrote that the 14-year-old took to the streets, because her homelife was “horrendous.”
“Tragically, working as a prostitute for Briggs was better than living at home, and safer than working for other pimps who often times beat and brutalize their victims to maintain control over them,” he wrote. “This young girl is a shell of a human being. She is scarred for life, and she continues to struggle.”

Manhattan Strip Clubs: ‘Unsung:’ ‘Full Force’ Recap

But the group had another idea. They wanted to produce a band with a lead female singer. They wanted a woman who was Latin and seemed to be the real Roxanne. Then Lisa Martinez was found. She auditioned for Full Force in Brooklyn and was terrified when she first met them. They wrote a song for her that was supposed to be from the woman’s prospective. It was called, “I Wonder If I Take You Home” and was a hit for the group Full Force created for her, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam.
Full Force went on to sign with Columbia Record and immediately had the hit, “Alice.” They also created the Alice Sandwich dance move which had Paul lifting up a woman and one of his brothers on stage.
The group had everything going for it, including, in their own words, a stripper mentality; they dressed like rockers and hip hop singers, and had the right hair style, the jheri curl.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: You overlook Jersey City’s black leaders: Letter

People have asked me if I still intend to pursue the Ward F council seat in the upcoming municipal elections here in Jersey City. You see, I discovered that I was being asked this question because I ran back in 2009 and once Former Ward F Councilwoman Viola Richardson won the special election for one of the council at large seats, The Jersey Journal ran a story about her victory and they just ignored my name as being one of the potential candidates to fill the seat.
In the past, I have read commentaries in The Jersey Journal about new black leaders in Jersey City; however, although we do exist many of us are strategically overlooked. Now, let’s take for example the misfortunate incident with Bruce Alston (I do not know if he’s guilty or not) but while he is going through due process, his story made front page news, and another commentary from the past was the arrest and conviction of the pimp (who is now deceased) whose story also made the front cover of The Jersey Journal. So, what is it that I am saying?

While working with adult women in correctional facilities and on the streets, Ms. Lloyd observed the overwhelming need for services for young women being sexually exploited who were being ignored by traditional social service agencies.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Style files: Dancer Ethan Stiefel

Silver and black Nike Air Force 1s: “I often use these kicks as my dress shoes. I found the AF1s at an uptown shop on Broadway and like that they almost seem to glow in the dark
in a certain light.”
Native shoes: “The Natives are fun, because when people first see them, they don’t know exactly what to make of them.”
Adidas Stormtrooper sweatshirt: “This came from a shop in Manhattan. I have several items from the Adidas Star Wars line, although this is one of my favourites.”
Psycho Bunny skull tie: “Although I don’t wear a tie too often, a good friend and former co-worker gave me the Psycho Bunny one. I like the funky mix of colourful plaid with the Psycho Bunny icon.”
John Varvatos shearling jacket: “It’s rock star-pimp and keeps you warm. My fiancee, Gillian, was generous enough to buy this for me at the John Varvatos store in New York City.”

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Too Short Brings Bay Area Rap to the Knitting Factory

And then there’s 2, which was the number of shows this Oakland, Calif., rapper performed last week, on Thursday and Friday, at the Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, his first full concerts in New York.
“I never even knew I had a chance of getting on a stage in New York,” he said in the wee hours of Saturday morning at the end of the second of these concerts; he seemed heavy with exhaustion, and his voice was a bit tattered by the New York cold.
Too Short is perhaps the original regional rap star, a longtime genre pioneer and fixture in the Bay Area who, despite several platinum and gold albums in the 1990s, never quite became a nationwide superstar. His music trafficked in the dirty stuff — pimping, raunchy sex — and still does, in a style straightforward enough to be blues, or nursery rhymes.
