I know it’s hard to fathom, but believe G.W. when he tells you that the tastiest piece of red meat he’s eaten all year was at a titty bar on West 28th Street in Manhattan. For weeks, good buddy Noel Ashman has been trying to cajole G.W. into having dinner at the legendary “Mammary Mecca” (as Richard Johnson prefers to call it) more commonly known as Scores. “Trust me,” he kept insisting, “the food is pretty incredible.” One recent Wednesday night, G.W. finally took him up on the offer. As we settled into a banquette in the cozy restaurant of this notorious strip club—rock music blaring and topless trollops shimmying on dance poles—we were treated to the most delicious, flawlessly prepared, humungous T-bone steak ever! Yes, a memo to majordomo food critic Sam Sifton: G.W. can declare unequivocally that he has found New York’s best steak.
