Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Spitzer Calls Gillibrand’s Views ‘Wrong’ and ‘Malleable’
Gov. David A. Paterson appointed Ms. Gillibrand to the seat vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton, who left the Senate to become secretary of state. She cultivated a reputation as a centrist in the House of Representatives, winning two elections in a conservative upstate district. But since her appointment, Ms. Gillibrand has staked out public positions more in line with the state’s Democratic mainstream on some issues.
“We need people in leadership now who know what they believe, who are willing to stand up and state what they believe and make tough decisions on critical issues relating to the economy, civil rights, issues of crime and punishment, guns, same-sex marriage,” Mr. Spitzer told WAMC’s Alan Chartock. “And I just think on every one of those scores, she fails.”
A spokesman for Ms. Gillibrand alluded to the failings of Mr. Spitzer, who resigned in 2008 after the revelation that he patronized a high-priced call girl service.
