Lazio’s Funds
Republican Rick Lazio, a former U.S. congressman from Long Island, announced in a cell-phone text message to supporters that he has raised $1.4 million since he declared his gubernatorial candidacy in September.
Paterson, 55, a former Senate minority leader, was lieutenant governor and became the state’s chief executive in March 2008 when former Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned amid a prostitution scandal. Paterson’s father, Basil, is a labor lawyer and founder of the Harlem-based political organization that elected U.S. Representative Charles Rangel and former Mayor David Dinkins.
