Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Local Reaction to Paterson’s Announcement

Paterson says up until the last 4 days, he was looking forward to overcoming the state’s hurdles.
But says he can no longer continue to run for office and manage state business.
Many people in area say they are not surprised by his announcement.
“After the way the state’s been over the last few year’s, it’s pretty inevitable,” said Dave Cuddeback of Ithaca.
Paterson says an accumulation of obstacles have made it difficult to continue helping the public.
Recent reports involving his top aid and domestic violence had fellow Democrats pushing him out the door with mounting phone calls urging him to drop out.
“He basically was a lame duck anyway. I mean he got in from a scandal from someone else,” said Cuddeback.
Paterson was Lieutenant Governor before entering office in 2008 after former Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned due to a prostitution scandal.
