Manhattan Massage Parlors: Bergen County prostitution sting nets 27 arrests

The joint investigation was carried out by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and eight municipal police departments. A dozen massage parlors and “in-call” operations – where customers call for prostitution services and are directed to a specific location in exchange for cash – were targeted in response to citizen complaints made to local police, Molinelli said in a statement.
Eleven people were arrested March 15 in a Paramus hotel for prostitution-related offenses. The following were arrested for engaging in prostitution: Hanna Young, 38, Yan Zhang, 43 and Li Jie, 42, all of Queens; Joann Maraska, 24, of Bayonne; Amanda Blackwell, 23, of Emporia, Va.; and Sofia Matallana, 35, of Spring Valley, N.Y.

On March 26, authorities arrested seven people at 12 massage parlors across Bergen County, Molinelli said.

Manhattan Massage Parlors: Why Some Countries and Cities Are So Much More Expensive Than Others

Even within a country, prices vary dramatically. The same beer might cost more downtown than in the suburbs. A barber might cost more in San Francisco than Detroit. Let’s conclude with another fundamental ingredient in prices. Land.
“Land is the key non-tradable good” in cities, Subramanian told me. It’s adheres to the Nanny Effect even more than nannies. If rents are going down in El Paso, you can’t take advantage of that fact while you’re living in Boston. That’s why housing rentals vary by thousands of percent among cities in different parts of the world. Rents rise when demand to live in an area goes up, and they fall when the supply of rental units outpace that demand. The price of real estate has a way of showing up in price tags all over the city. Ice cream shops, massage parlors, and architects charge more in cities with higher rental prices.

Manhattan Massage Parlors: Undercover sting nets two for prostitution

Lyndhurst – Five suspects were arrested yesterday, March 29, in two simultaneous investigations into illegal prostitution at businesses operating as massage parlors in Lyndhurst, according to Detective Captain John Valente.
According to Valente, the investigation involved members of the Lyndhurst Police Department with the assistance of undercover detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Valente said undercover detectives entered both Tranquility Spa, located at 546 Valley Brook Ave., and First Massage Therapy, located at 603 Ridge Rd., and in both instances, the detectives were offered sex in exchange for cash.
“It’s something we wanted to do for awhile; it just took some time to coordinate with the prosecutor’s office because we can’t go in there. They would recognize us from around town,” said Valente. “We’ve had some recent complaints about these two places and we have done investigations in the past there that resulted in arrests.”

Manhattan Massage Parlors: Primal Instinct: Broadway Bares 2012 Teases "Happy Endings" (Video)

Like that of the the shifty massage parlor near our regular cruising grounds on 10th, Broadway Bares has unveiled a tagline for its 2012 showcase, “Happy Endings.” Fortunately for the gorgeous stars of the annual AIDS fundraiser it’s just a tongue-in-booty-cheek reference to the show’s 2012 theme which was unveiled today: fairy tales. Also unveiled today? A video from behind the scenes of the photo shoot teasing the highly anticipated event’s return to NYC’s Roseland in June. Follow the jump to watch the NSFW vid!
Not that we spent much time evaluating every single pixel in every single frame, but some extra goodies can be found in the background of certain shots, “a friend” tells us or something.

Manhattan Massage Parlors: Mangano, County Police Chief Address West Hempsteaders’ Concerns

The precinct will also still house detectives, an inspector and two deputy inspectors. Officers working as special patrols will also continue to work out of the fifth, which will be designated a community policing center, as well as a supervisor who overseas them, according to Skrynecki.
The non-emergency phone number for the fifth precinct will still work for a significant amount of time, but will roll over to the fourth after the realignment takes place, he said, adding,  ”Don’t worry, we’ll give plenty of notice if the number changes. I guarantee you will never call that number and get nothing.”
Under the plan, there will also be more Problem Oriented Policing, or POP, cops available, 12 in every policing center, Mangano added. (These are the officers that work with the community to address public safety concerns specific to the area including graffitti, illegal massage parlors, and illegal alcohol sales.)
