LAST UPDATED AT 14:19 ON Mon 23 Jan 2012
HIS 1984 crime inspired one of the most famous headlines in tabloid newspaper history – ‘HEADLESS BODY IN TOPLESS BAR’. Now the perpetrator, Charles Dingle, is hoping a parole board will free him after almost three decades in the Wende correctional facility in upstate New York.
The New York Post, which ran ran the original 1983 headline, reports today that 53-year-old Dingle will this week face a three-man panel who will decide whether the killer – who has already had two parole bids turned down – should be released from jail.
Although the subject of considerable mirth due to the Post’s headline, Dingle’s rampage was horrific even by the standards of New York City in the 1980s. High on cocaine and alcohol, Dingle shot dead Herbert Cummings, owner of Herbie’s Bar in Jamaica, Queens.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: ‘Headless Body in Topless Bar’ killer seeks release from prison

For the second time in five seasons, Big Blue is going to the big game. The New York Giants recovered two mishandled San Francisco kick returns, the last one setting up the game-winning field goal in sudden-death overtime, as Big Blue defeated the 49ers 20-17 in Sunday’s NFC Championship to advance to the Super Bowl for the second time since 2008. Sunday’s win sets up a Super Bowl rematch with the New England Patriots, whom the Giants defeated in Super Bowl XLII to claim the franchise’s third Super Bowl title and ruin the Patriots’ pursuit of a perfect season. Manhattan Strip Clubs: Headless Body/Topless Bar Murderer Wants Out of Jail

Headless Body/Topless Bar Murderer Wants Out of Jail
Charles Dingle, now 53, the murderer behind the infamous New York Post headline “Headless Body in Topless Bar,” wants out of jail and will ask a parole panel to free him this week from the Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo, reports the Post via the comparatively dull headline, “‘Headless Body in Topless Bar‘ killer seeks release from prison.”
In 1983, Dingle committed the crime that spawned the headline(s) by killing Herbert Cummings, the owner of Herbie’s (topless) Bar in Jamaica, Queens. He then took four women hostage, raped one of them, and forced one of the hostages, who was a mortician, to remove the bullet from Cummings’ head and cut the head off with a steak knife.
The fun did not end. Dingle released two of the hostages but, with the other two (and Cummings’ head) drove around in a stolen gypsy cab which he eventually parked at Broadway and West 168th Street, where he fell asleep at the wheel. Crime sprees are exhausting.

NEW YORK — The murderer convicted of killing a bar owner, taking four women hostage and forcing one of them to cut off the dead bar owner’s head during a drug-fueled crime spree three decades ago is seeking parole for a third time.
The New York Post, which dubbed now 53-year-old Charles Dingle the “Headless Body in a Topless Bar” killer after he committed the 1983 spree, reports the felon will ask a three-person parole board to spring him from the upstate Wende Correctional Facility.
Dingle was just 23 when he went on his bizarre rampage, entering Herbie’s Bar in Queens one April day and shooting owner Herbert Cummings to death while high on cocaine and alcohol.
Dingle robbed some customers and took four women hostage, one of whom he raped, and then forced another one of his hostages to extricate the bullet from Cummings’ skull so his gun couldn’t be linked to it. Then he forced the woman to cut off Cummings’ head.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Murder case is moved out of Noble-co.

Geiger’s and Pauley’s bodies were found buried in shallow graves on a rural Noble County property. Kerns was found buried near the Rolling Acres Mall in Akron.
Geiger is believed to be the initial victim, killed on or about Aug. 9.
On Nov. 6, Scott Davis, 48, of South Carolina, was shot while at a rural property in Noble County, but he survived by hiding in the woods for seven hours prior to seeking help.
That shooting led to the discovery of Pauley’s body and later Geiger’s body.
Kerns’ body was found after authorities arrested Rafferty and identified Beasley as a co-defendant.
Beasley was a fugitive at the time of the shootings based on warrants for his arrest issued in Summit County and Texas. The indictments against him contain specifications he was a fugitive from justice.
Beasley remained incarcerated in a Summit County jail on unrelated drug and prostitution charges.
