Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Liquor Authority postpones vote for controversial strip club

LISA L. COLANGELOWednesday, January 04, 2012 Supporters and opponents of a proposed Long Island City strip club have two more weeks to make their case before the State Liquor Authority. Commissioners from the authority heard more than an hour of testimony Wednesday but delayed a decision until a Jan. 18 meeting so they can pore through reports and other documents submitted by the Gypsy Rose’s operators, known as 21 Group Inc. Elected officials and community leaders have fought bitterly over the last few years to stop the club from opening at the 21st St. location, just at the foot of the Queensboro Bridge.
They claim the club will hurt efforts to revive the once-gritty neighborhood.
But Terry Flynn, the lawyer for 21 Group, told commissioners that opponents were engaging in “censorship.”
“The law allows and the zoning allows this use,” he said. “If this was a nightclub or another high-end lounge we would not be here. We’re here because this is an adult entertainment establishment.”

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Mom Strips to Pay Custody Battle Legal Bills

Mom Strips to Pay Custody Battle Legal Bills
A Long Island mom has decided to dance for justice.
Nicole Montiglio, 31, who previously posed for Playboy is now working as a stripper in Manhattan to cover expensive legal bills resulting from her battle to gain custody of her 4-year-old son.
“I’m dancing to pay for justice, to get my baby back,’’ said a tearful Nicole Montiglio to the New York Post.
Montiglio lost custody of her son in November, after a judge noted that she repeatedly reported that her estranged husband was abusing the child. The claims were never substantiated by investigators.
Sal was therefore placed in her husband’s brother’s care.
Montiglio also claims that Sal informed her that his dad abused him while bathing, however officials found no evidence.

The convictions of two Garfield masseuses on prostitution charges were upheld on appeal Monday.

Hong Yue Cai had admitted sexually servicing customers at the River Spa massage parlor on River Drive in Garfield, but later appealed the conviction, arguing that the city’s definition of “sexual conduct” was unconstitutionally vague, according to court documents.
Cai and a second woman, Bo Liu, who operated the parlor, were arrested on prostitution charges in November 2008 after one of them propositioned an undercover police officer, authorities at the time. A customer interviewed by police at the parlor also admitted to receiving a “hand release” from masseuses at the spa on several occasions in exchange for money, according to court documents.
