Genting owns about 54% of Genting Singapore Ltd, 48.3% of Genting Malaysia and 18% of Genting Hong Kong Ltd, which houses Resorts World Manila.
It remains to be seen if Genting will get similar support in Florida, where the group has announced plans for a US$3.8 billion bayfront Resorts World Miami, complete with hotels, convention space, retail and recreational space, but is missing a casino licence.
Florida lawmakers are slated to discuss a gaming bill that could pave the way for the award of up to three casino-resort licences on Monday afternoon, according to the Senate session calendar.
Genting officials have won some local support with its promise of bigger revenue streams and higher job creation for Miami, but faces opposition from bigwigs like Florida’s
Orlando-based Walt Disney Co, as well as other community groups who still see casinos as a vice-filled industry linked to thug-like debt-collectors, prostitution and money laundering.

You can read any list of the better-known song titles and start to piece the story together: Sophisticated Lady, Having Myself a Time, Foolin Myself, Hush Now, Dont Explain, No Regrets, and so on. Music critic Henry Pleasants described Billie Holidays voice as being hoarse at the bottom and thinly shrill on top, with top and bottom never very far apart. But even at the end of her abbreviated life, when it was ravaged by drug and alcohol abuse, Holidays small, shrill, slurring voice, like a broken toy cornet, could convey a range of feelings only hinted at by a songs lyrics. Lady Day at Emersons Bar and Grill, a biographical music revue on stage at Hattiloo Theatre, is an unflinching portrait of an artist who, from her days as a teenage brothel worker to the time she spent singing with the most revered orchestras of her generation, was defined almost entirely by addiction and pain.

West New York police net suspected ‘johns’ and prostitution ring operating out of Broadway apartment
…
West New York police made multiple arrests after they uncovered what they’ve called a prostitution ring operating out of a Broadway apartment last Thursday, reports said.
Teresita Quiroz-Verdugo, 37, of Queens, and Luis Lopez, 33, of Union City, were being monitored at an apartment complex on Broadway near 60th Street because police believed one of the apartments was a “prostitution house,” officials said.
…
The surveillance team then had an undercover officer enter the alleged prostitution house. The officer signaled the surveillance team to enter the building once he determined that a transaction for sexual favors was made, officials said.
Huesca and Lopez were charged with engaging in prostitution, while Quiroz-Verdugo was charged with solicitation, police said.

The victims were crossing Third Avenue at 46th Street in the Sunset Park section on Aug. 4, 2001.
The infant Mrs. Herrera was carrying, Ricardo, died 13 hours after being delivered by emergency Caesarean section.
The deadly chain of events began when Gray, a 15-year NYPD veteran, went on a drinking tear that started midmorning in the parking lot of the 72nd Precinct stationhouse in Brooklyn. It continued at a strip club off-limits to cops.
