Former NBA player Dennis Rodman says he’s starting a topless women’s basketball team for a New York strip club.
“I don’t know too many men that don’t like a good-looking woman running up and down around the court,” Rodman told the New York Post. Rodman, who was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2011 and is one of the game’s best rebounders, also is known for such things as wearing a wedding dress to a book promotion and having an affair with Madonna.

During the NBA lockout, another New York strip club, Rick’s Cabaret, had such a league with former Atlanta Hawk Spud Webb. There were teams in several cities, but the league disbanded when the lockout ended, and Webb returned to his job as president of basketball operations for the Texas Legends, an NBA Development League team.

An article in this weekend’s Sunday New York Times explores the life of a 52-year-old prostitute who has worked the notorious Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx for nearly her entire adult life.
Barbara Terry, who has four children and suffers from diabetes, which caused all her teeth to fall out, depended on her mother to help her raise and watch over her four children while she hit the track every night trying to support them.
“When they were old enough to understand, I would tell them the truth,” Terry, whose daughter and three sons are now grown, told the New York Times. “I’d say, ‘This is how I’m supporting you.’ For me, it’s a business, a regular job.”
…
Thirty years later, she’s teaching the young prostitutes on the strip how to handle their business, like getting their money up front and always checking the car they get in to.

Dennis Rodman is bouncing back into basketball, this time as a coach for a topless women’s team he is launching for Headquarters Gentlemen’s Club, the New York mammary mecca.
The NBA bad boy dreamed up the team after hearing that rival strip joint Rick’s Cabaret launched a league with former Atlanta Hawk Spud Webb, who runs the Texas Legends, an NBA Development League team.
Rodman even is challenging Rick’s Cabaret’s topless team to a charity game.
“I don’t know too many men that don’t like a good-looking woman running up and down around the court,” Rodman said.
Rodman, who said he has been a Headquarters customer for more than 30 years, is currently scouting for talent. He will be holding auditions soon at the jiggle joint for girls over 5′10″ (1.78 meters) to join the team.

What makes Backpage.com unusual is its adult services, including escort and body-rub advertising, which represented $2.1 million in revenue in November alone, according to AimGroup.com. For a struggling newspaper business that gives away many of its products for free, that’s significant.
But the service is also onto its second controversy of late 2011. First, there was criticism over concerns of underage prostitution being facilitated by the site, which ended up with VVM snared in a weird quarrel with Ashton Kutcher. (VVM said only 14% of the site’s advertising is adult-related.)
Now, the site is being investigated in connection to the deaths of four women in Detroit last weekend. Three of them had escort profiles on Backpage.com.
The Christian Science Monitor’s Mark Guarino spoke to Chicago attorney Joe Obenberger, who specializes in adult entertainment law. He writes:
