The U.S. Attorney’s Office, which already has an appeal pending over some of Martini’s evidentiary rulings in the previous trial, was left unsatisfied Tuesday.
“We disagree with the court’s decision and have filed a notice of appeal,” U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said. “Our position remains that we are entitled to have a federal jury hear the entire breadth and scope of illegal conduct with which Bergrin is charged.”
In a recent motion, Bergrin sought to restrict a next trial to seven counts only, all of which focused on the 2008 murder plot. The judge carved out 14 counts for the next trial, which focus on allegations of Bergrin’s alleged cocaine trafficking, along with witness tampering and the murder plot.
However, the 14 counts leave aside all four racketeering counts against Bergrin, along with charges he aided and abetted McCray’s murder, ran a prostitution ring and filed false tax returns.

SUNSET ON OSCAR’S MENU: Las Vegas vixen and adult film star Sunset Thomas turns up as a footnote on the menu of Oscar Goodman’s new steakhouse Oscar’s at the Plaza. “His promise of beef, booze and broads definitely won’t let you down,” Sunset said. “Hizzoner is the hippest. The broads are engaging, hot and far more than just eye candy. The bar is classy and the dining-room view as hip as any in town.”
But it’s a gift she gave him a year ago that’s stuck onto the menu. She interviewed him, and as a souvenir, Sunset signed a photograph of herself with “I wish I had an Oscar Mayor Weiner.” Cooed the curvy courtesan: “I guess it stuck because the line is right there on the menu alongside the veal shank, and I’m certain that pun was intended, too!”

For instance, the Communications Decency Act (CDA) of 1996 was originally drawn up by the U.S. Congress in an attempt to regulate the burgeoning pornography industry online. Of course, while this initial objective has little to do with the regular needs or goals of individuals or businesses online, the fact is that the CDA ended up affecting online communication in greater ways than simply regulating the adult entertainment industry. Rather, Section 230 of the Act allowed for significant interpretation, namely that the operator of a website or an Internet-based service could not be considered a traditional “publisher,” and hence could not be held legally liable for any words or comments posted by an unrelated third party who uses the website and/or service. It is this which has allowed sites like PissedConsumer.com to be created and as such, allowed for users of the website to post defamatory remarks without consequence.

Oduye is adept in front of the camera, capturing the moment when a path must be chosen. Whether it’s the career that makes sense to no one else except you, or in Alike’s case, finding acceptance for who she loves.
The character’s bravery in embracing her path at such a young age is what makes the scene.
The movie, only 86 minutes long, doesn’t waste a second. In the opening scene, Alike enters a club with a sign on the door that reads: “18 to party, 21 to drink.” She is uncomfortable at the strippers performing in front of her. After all, she is just a child, one who hastily changes her outfit on a late-night bus in Brooklyn to make herself more feminine in front of her pushy, exhausting mother (played excellently by Kim Wayans).

What was happening was an enormous transition: A gritty neighborhood that reeked of blood and guts, populated by burly immigrant workers, prostitutes, drug addicts and transvestites, was rapidly transforming into one of chic designer boutiques, fabulous restaurants, glitzy hotels and nightclubs — and inevitably, tourists in stilettos who watched “Sex and the City.”

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. The Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

It is the day after Christmas and already a racy photo is a top searched term. But this time people aren’t searching for a young starlet. It is actress Helen Mirren, 66, and still gorgeous, who people are searching for.
Mirren went topless for a Juergen Teller shoot for New York magazine, for a story with the headline ‘Madam Helen.’ Underneath the headline is a quote that read, “I’m still the good girl who wants to be a bad girl…”
Mirren was promoting her new movie “Love Ranch” at the time. In that movie, which was directed by her husband, Taylor Hackford, Mirren played Grace Botempo, the madam of a seventies Reno whorehouse. The film was based on Nevada’s real Mustang Ranch.
The article noted that when Mirren’s husband tried to convince her to spend a night at the Mustang Ranch, she refused.
“I said, ‘Read my lips: I’m not going to spend a night in a brothel,’” Mirren spoke of the incident.

This Outlawed Wall Street Strip Club Gets Resurrected One Night Every Year
Once upon a time, in Manhattan’s Financial District what appears to be your typical pizzeria/bodega used to have some hot and steamy action going on in the back.
And we’re not talking about the pizza in the oven.
The main attraction in this establishment, which is positioned near a now-closed gentleman’s club and a lingerie/adult novelty store, was just past the beer coolers through a not-so-secret wooden door.
Back in the day, Wall Streeters in suits, ground zero construction workers and other dudes wearing bright white sneakers looking for a thrill used to go to this joint for some brews and have scantily clad dancers perform lap dances.
A few years ago, an undercover television news crew caught the bumping and grinding action on tape with a hidden video camera.
