Manhattan Strip Clubs: Sean Bell Wrongful Death Settlement Yields $7.15 Million

… The Sean Bell shooting highlighted the complexities our dedicated officers must face each day. The city regrets the loss of life in this tragic case, and we share our deepest condolences with the Bell family,” Michael Cordozo, an attorney for the New York City Law Department, said in a statement.
Bell was attending his bachelor party the night before his wedding, and got into a scuffle with undercover police officers, who opened fire on him and the two other friends. In a matter of seconds, the officers fired 50 shots.
Police assert that one of the men had a gun and was going for it but an investigation found that there was no gun present. Officers also said that the men, as they were driving away, did not stop when police told them to do so.
His bachelor party was being held at a strip club in Jamaica, Queens, where undercover officers were investigating for prostitution allegations.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Plaintiffs: NYC settlement of 50-shot case is fair

… Nobody wins in this,” a somber Joseph Guzman — who was shot 17 times and still wears a leg brace — said at a news conference a day after the settlement was announced.
The deal in a case that ignited community outrage and raised questions about police firepower awards $3.25 million to the estate of Sean Bell, $3 million to Guzman and $900,000 to a third victim, Trent Benefield, minus 30 percent legal fees.
The Bell estate payout will benefit two young daughters he had with Nicole Paultre Bell, who legally took his name after his death.
The fiancee called the settlement “reasonable.” But, she added, the girls “will never have their father.”
Bell, 23, died in a hail of 50 bullets on Nov. 25, 2006, around the corner from a Queens topless bar where he had just had a bachelor party and where undercover police were investigating complaints of prostitution.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Finally Some Justice For Family Of NYC Shooting Victim

Bell’s friends, Joseph Guzman, 35, who was shot 11 times, will receive $3 million and Trent Benefield, 27, who was hit three times, will get $900,000.
The deal ends a four-year legal battle by Nicole Paultre-Bell and Bell’s two friends who were wounded when police fired off a whopping 50 shots on Nov. 25, 2006. The cops involved mistakenly believed Bell and his friends were firing at them. A lengthy investigation eventually revealed that Bell and his friends had no weapons.
Bell and his friends were leaving his bachelor party at a strip club in Queens when they were shot. Police had been investigating the club for drug activity. The incident caused a major uproar in the community as Bell’s fiancée garnered the support of Reverend Al Sharpton who helped stage several protests.

Zac Efron Hits Strip Club With High School Buddy
And how do we know this?
First, he’s starring in Charlie St. Cloud, which is an adult role, and secondly, he’s now patronizing big-people places like strip clubs!
On Sunday night, Zac, his High School costar Corbin Bleu and another buddy hit Flashdancers in New York City and spent around $2,000 on lap dances and booze, the club confirms to E! News.
The New York Post’s Page Six, which first reported the story, says that their party didn’t end until 3 a.m. and that Zac took a liking to three ladies in particular…
Speaking of Vanessa, she doesn’t mind Zac making out with other women for work, but no word on whether she cares about her man spending cash on strippers. Her rep didn’t respond to our request for comment.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: City Settles Sean Bell Shooting For $7.15 Million

The city reached a settlement with the family of Sean Bell, who was fatally shot by the police on the eve of his wedding in November 2006. His family will receive $3.25 million; his friends Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield, who also injured from the 50 shots fired by undercover police, will receive $3 million and $900,000 respectively. Manhattan Strip Clubs: NYC Settles Sean Bell Case For $7 Million

The city’s attorney Michael A. Cardozo released a statement on the case saying,
“We hope that all parties can find some measure of closure by this settlement.”
Nicole Paultre-Bell also spoke on the settlement and says no amount of money can reverse the pain.
“No amount of money can provide closure, no amount of money can make up for the pain. We’ll just try to learn how to live with it and move on.”
Three police officers were acquitted of multiple charges including manslaughter in 2008 for the 2006 shooting of Bell, as he left his bachelor party on his wedding day.
Officers fired 50 shots into Bell’s vehicle outside of a NYC gentleman’s club, one even stopping to reload before firing 31 shots into the unarmed Black man’s car.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Sean Bell and Sherri Rasmussen – Civil Justice Remedies Police Violence

July 28, 2010
Sean Bell and Sherri Rasmussen – Civil Justice Remedies Police Violence
The anger which ignited the 1992 Los Angeles riots is
frightfully similar to what many New York City residents felt after the
acquittal of police officers who shot and killed Sean Bell in a hail of
NYPD gunfire outside a strip club in Queens after leaving his bachelor
party.
“The officers fired 50
shots in just a few seconds.  … Police said they believed at least one of the men had a gun, but no gun was found.”
In both
situations, a clearly exasperated public was left shocked and confused by a
“not guilty” jury verdict returned in a criminal case against police officers.
When police officers are cleared of criminal misconduct in
cases like these, however, the matter often does not end there. Sometimes, civil litigation against the perpetrators of
police violence is the only way victims can receive justice, some form of compensation
and move on.
