Manhattan Strip Clubs: Upright Citizens Brigade Takes Boulder Theatre, 10/9

On Saturday, October 9, at 7PM, UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE will play Boulder Theatre.
The Upright Citizens Brigade (Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh) came to New York, from Chicago, in 1996. After staging their award winning sketch comedy show, and introducing the long form improvised structure of the “Harold” to New York audiences the UCB soon began their training program.
The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre opened February 4, 1999 at 161 West 22nd Street, the former home of the New Harmony, a strip club reported to be seedier than seedy. The UCBT quickly became the place for great, cutting-edge, comedy. Casting directors, agents, and journalists all began to flock to the 74-seat theater in Chelsea to see the best comic talent in the city.
In April of 2003, (April Fool’s Day, to be exact) the New UCB Theater opened its doors. The 150-seat theater at 307 West 26th Street continues to offer the best and most innovative improv and sketch comedy …

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Patrolling Near Clubs Carries High Cost

The buildup is partly in response to five deaths near clubs over the past year, including a February hit-and-run after shots were fired during a fight near a Broadway strip club.
Next week, the Board of Supervisors is expected to expand the powers of San Francisco’s Entertainment Commission, which regulates the entertainment industry, enabling the commission to revoke the permits of nightclubs where violence has occurred.
The police complain that they have become glorified baby sitters for a club scene that is becoming increasingly difficult to control. The city’s eight other police districts dispatch two officers each to the tourist-heavy Central District on weekends, giving it the largest concentration of officers in San Francisco.

The man told the police he had come to visit his girlfriend, a stripper. But while he waited, according to the police, the man made gang signs and yelled “415” at several other men, an indication that he may have belonged to a gang.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Theater Listings: July 23 — 29

… ‘With Glee’ This delightfully daffy musical by John Gregor about five boys at a Maine boarding school, first seen at the 2007 New York Musical Theater Festival, is getting a very entertaining production by the Prospect Theater Company. The director, Igor Goldin, and choreographer, Antoinette DiPietropolo, make energetic use of the Kirk Theater’s small stage, and the cast, like Mr. Gregor, knows that there’s nothing wrong with nonsense for nonsense’s sake (1:30). ‘Zero Hour’ Jim Brochu does an excellent imitation of Zero Mostel in his standard-issue bio-play (1:50). Actors Temple Theater, 339 West 47th Street , (212) 239-6200, ZeroHourShow.com. (Zinoman)20100722
Off Off Broadway
‘A Night at the Tombs’
This solo show by the transgender artist Bianca Leigh recounts the night she spent in a New York City detention center on a prostitution charge, but the fact that nothing much happened during that night leaves it feeling like an exercise in self-aggrandizement. Six songs, some by noteworthy names like Taylor Mac, are sprinkled through the show, but Miss Leigh’s hit-or-miss voice doesn’t bring out their best (1:20).

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: 1966 hit "I Do! I Do!" revived at Westport Playhouse

The play will mark the return to the stage of actress Cherry Jones after several years of working in Los Angeles on the TV series “24.”
Hughes and Jones both won Tonys for their work on the original 2005 Broadway production of “Doubt,” by John Patrick Shanley.
The national tour of “Doubt” brought Jones to the Shubert Theatre in New Haven and the Bushnell in Hartford.
The actress and director also teamed up for a wonderful stage version of the Michael Cunningham novel “Flesh & Blood” at the New York Theatre Workshop in the East Village in 2002.
“Mrs. Warren’s Profession” will begin previews on Sept. 3 and open to the press on Oct. 3 at the Roundabout’s American Airlines Theatre at 227 W. 42nd St.
Shaw’s play tells the story of a woman whose work as a prostitute ensures the independence of her daughter.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Stewart’s supporters call new prison term a ‘death sentence’

… I think the judge just buckled under to the Second Circuit Court,” said William Heerwagen, host of WBAI’s “Jazz and Things.” Heerwagen viewed the resentencing in a first-floor courtroom with circuit TV opened to accommodate an overflow crowd. He was referring to a panel of judges from the Second Circuit Court of Appeals who dismissed Stewart’s appeal of the 28-month sentence in November 2009, ordered her to begin jailtime and gave Koeltl a mandate to reconsider his first sentence, which one jurist described as “breathtakingly low.”
Prominent criminal defense attorney Murray Richman — known as “Don’t Worry Murray” to clients ranging from mobsters to hip-hop moguls and former Governor Eliott Spitzer’s prostitute procurer — said he regards Koeltl as a good judge who “knew best” about the complications of an extraordinary case, but wasn’t given “much room to move in.”

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: QUESTIONS MY MOTHER CAN’T ANSWER To Premiere At FringNYC 8/15-27

Directed by Rachel Eckerling, co-director of this past season’s acclaimed The Diary of a Teenage Girl at 3LD Arts & Technology Center (and frequent collaborator of Francis Ford Coppola on both theatre and film projects), the creative team for Questions My Mother Can’t Answer will also include Grammy Award-winning sound designer Marcelo Añez and lighting designer Jason Teague.
In Questions My Mother Can’t Answer, Andrea’s on a mission: she interviews eight “women-of-a-certain-age,” including a sexy Moroccan ballroom dancer, a donations-only prostitute, and her Aunt Shirley, about getting pregnant, staying married, and finding a flow. As she embarks on a healing journey after a personal tragic event, Andrea looks for guidance from a variety of female role models, only to find that there are no role models…that we are all flawed and life isn’t about avoiding accidents, or tragedy, but how we deal with it.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Atlanta Man Shot In Newark Park Known As Gay Hookup Spot

Atlanta Man Shot In Newark Park Known As Gay Hookup Spot
07/22/10-by Bridgette P. LaVictoire
Questions surround the Friday night shooting in Newark, NJ of DeFarra Gaymon. The married father of four was shot by a police officer at Branch Brook Park. The officer had tried to arrest Gaymon for lewd and lascivious behavior when Gaymon apparently fled and later lunged at the officer who had been trying to arrest him. Branch Brook Park is known for being a gay sex hookup spot as well as a spot for men to pick up male prostitutes.
Gaymon was in Newark for his 30th High School reunion when, apparently, he went to the park. According to the officer, he found Gaymon engaged in sexual activities, most likely with another man. It is not known why Gaymon, the CEO of Credit Union of Atlanta, was in the park to begin with, and the only word that we have for the events appears to be that of the undercover officer. The officer did show his badge repeatedly according to the report.

Manhattan Escorts: Seasoned cast handles life’s ups and downs in silly septuagenarian sex farce …

NEW YORK, N.Y. — For a certain audience, the good-natured humour about sex, aging and friendship in the new off-Broadway comedy “Viagara Falls” will definitely resonate. The dialogue has its ups and downs — pun intended — but it’s all in good fun.
Two semi-spry widowers in their 70s, living in Brooklyn, N.Y., trade body part jokes and health complaints while debating how to spend a special evening.
Lou Cutell, who co-wrote the script with Joao Machado, manages to be both touching and peppy as “Sinatra-phile” Charley, the more enthusiastic of the two friends. It’s Charley’s birthday, and he wants to celebrate by showing his lifelong pal and war buddy, Moe (Bernie Kopell), the night of his life.
Determined to enjoy the evening, Charley has procured some Viagra pills on the local black market — from Vito, the “Mafia baker” — and calls an escort service, “Pussy Cats for Older Men,” to provide a couple of ladies. Needless to say, the dialogue is liberally sprinkled with erectile-disfunction jokes.
