Manhattan Strip Clubs: City Island (15)

Verdict: A Bronx cheer for this one
By Robbie Collin, 17/07/2010
HERE’S an indie comedy-drama that does for the City Island area of New York City what All Saints did for All Saints Road area of London… absolutely nothing.
Andy Garcia and Julianna Margulies are Vince and Joyce Rizzo, a married couple who are hiding secrets. Andy’s secret is he’s taking acting lessons. Although on this evidence, not enough.
He’s a prison officer, and when he finds out his son Tony (Steven Strait) is serving time in his jail, he gets him out and employs him as a handyman at his house. Meanwhile Tony’s half-sister Vivian (Garcia’s real-life kid Dominik Garcia-Lorido) is secretly working as a stripper to pay her tuition fees, and brother Vince Jr (Ezra Miller) is secretly obsessed with internet porn.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Special interests ready for state races

Both of my opponents have the Albany machine available to raise money for them, Kennedy said of Stachowski and Assemblyman Jack Quinn III, the likely Republican nominee. Thats the same Albany machine that people in Western New York are so frustrated with.
Kennedy has his own pool of benefactors and one of the most generous is J.C. Seneca, owner of a successful Indian tobacco business in Irving. Seneca gave Kennedy a $15,500 contribution.
We share the same convictions as it pertains to Native American sovereignty and upholding the treaties between the nation and the United States government, Kennedy said.
The county legislator added that he does not believe New York has the authority to collect taxes on Indian tobacco sales.
Kennedy also received $2,000 from local strip club owner Richard Snowden, who recently lost his liquor license after police and federal agents raided his club as part of an investigation into prostitution and drug trafficking allegations against dancers and patrons at the Tally Ho.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Mel, Mel, Mel — something smells

It’s safe to say the celebrity having the worst week (or month) is Mel Gibson. The one-time movie star has been a constant presence in the news, and it’s not good. Recordings of some harsh verbal encounters with his ex, Oksana Grigorieva, were leaked to Radaronline.com and they definitely revealed Gibson’s dark side. I’m guessing there’s a trip to rehab in his future.
Take the quiz below to find out what else is happening in the world of celebrity.
1. Donald Trump has enlisted this woman, who has been linked to Tiger Woods, as one of the contestants on the next season of “Celebrity Apprentice.”
2. A Michigan couple was found guilty of extortion for trying to get money from this star, claiming they had compromising photos of him with cocaine and strippers.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Shake your boot-y

Get over it and hydrate. Glamour.com senior style editor Susan Cernek claims it’s more practical than you think: “I’m not sure if you’ve had the pleasure of walking around NYC in flip-flops, but if you look at your soles after it’s rather revolting,” she says. “Wearing boots is a smart move. And you’re still protecting your pedicure!”
But remember, always show some leg, which means absolutely no boots with maxi dresses. Wear what you have in the closet or shop for a vintage pair or something you can wear in to the fall and winter, too. And always accessorize with plenty of attitude: This look is a little rough and tough and you should be, too.
That said, celebrity stylist Robert Verdi cautions: “You can’t have a big green bruise on your left thigh. You’ll look like a homeless prostitute if the dress is tight. But you’ll look like a cool girl from a band on the LES in a linen shift.”

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: AIDS group fears annual HIV costs may hit $35 bln

On the eve of an international conference on AIDS in Vienna, the Alliance said the AIDS virus, which already infects around 33.4 million people across the world, was a “costly time-bomb” for families, governments and donors.
“For every two people who get treatment, five others get infected. At this rate, spending for HIV will rise from $13 billion now to between $19 and $35 billion in just 20 years time,” Alvaro Bermejo, executive director of the Alliance, said in a statement.
International AIDS Alliance brings together AIDS charities and advocacy groups from across the world.
Bermejo said authorities running national AIDS programmes around the world needed to increase HIV prevention by tackling the barriers that stop marginalised groups — such as drugs users, prostitutes and gay men in some countries — from getting HIV treatment and services.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: LIFE WITH BRUCIE IS NOT ALL THAT NICE

Its so long since the last best new sitcom, I cant remember what it was. Not Going Out? Extras? The Office? Fawlty Towers? Last of the Summer Wine? It Aint Half Hot, Mum? Tom Hollanders Reverend Smallbone is a wonderful creation, going about his parish with good intentions but disastrous consequences.
Last weeks episode was rich with gags, too. Very, very funny. I love the archdeacon, whos got something of Rowan Atkinsons bumbling priest in Four Weddings about him, especially when he became aware of the Muslim community using his reverends church. He intoned: This is the Lords church, not Harrods.
Then the strippers. A lap-dancing club was planned near the St Saviours church school, which alarmed our reverend. As one of his parishioners implored, Stop the filth! Quite right.
