Manhattan Adult Entertainment: The Veil is Lifted, The Gloves Are Off

Lucky for me I was in an overflow room. I commented, loudly, how I hoped this guy would get the pox, and I wasn’t alone. People booed, and said he better not come into their neighborhoods. How could he sleep at night? I would be embarrassed to be in his shoes. Is there no dignity?
Well, I will answer my own rhetorical questions.
There is no dignity in this system.
There is no justice in this system.
There never was, and never will be.
There is only hatred, fear, and an elite system of injustice.
The judge is only a puppet of the state and did what he was told to do.
The prosecutor is a prostitute and regurgitates enough bullshit to make people afraid enough to go home and lock their doors so they too won’t wind up like Lynn Stewart.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: SFist Reviews: Mrs. Warren’s Profession at CalShakes

The play seems to be undergoing a bit of a rediscovery, with the Shakespeare Theater in Washington, D.C. having just wrapped a production last weekend. And it’s an odd play for modern audiences to be sure, because though it centers on the subject of prostitution, the words “prostitute,” “hooker,” “lady of the night,” or even “sex” are never uttered in the course of the play. It was a controversial play in its time, banned in England and banned in New York after only one performance in 1905, only to be revived in the 1920s, and again at Lincoln Center in 1976.

There are a few other plot machinations we won’t spoil here, and a brusque, business-y nobleman character named Croft (played by CalShakes company member Andy Murray) who is both business partner to the elder Mrs. Warren and suitor to her daughter. But suffice it to say, this isn’t a simple morality play about prostitution. It’s an emotional farce of sorts, with several complex dynamics …

Couple Convicted In Stamos Extortion Case
A Michigan couple has been jailed for attempting to extort money from actor JOHN STAMOS.
Allison Coss and Scott Sippola were arrested in December (09) after they allegedly threatened to release snaps of the actor with cocaine and strippers unless he handed over $680,000 (£453,000).
Coss claimed she met the actor when she was 17 before embarking on a romantic affair with him – allegations his lawyer denied in court.
Stamos maintains he met Coss in 2004 at a party in Orlando, Florida, while recovering after separating from his wife, Rebecca Romijn.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: The strangest roomful of art in LA right now

It includes, among others, a florid portrait of actress Sarah Bernhardt, tiny cupids climbing her shoulder; a life-size, pseudo-antique figure of a twisting nude, one hand coyly clutching a hidden ball; and a bust of the screaming war-goddess, Bellona, sparkling with Lalique-glass eyes. Anchoring the room is Gérôme’s famous 1890 painting of Pygmalion and Galatea (pictured), showing an artist’s full-length sculpture of a lithe nude coming to miraculous life, the carver’s fervent kiss causing her cool white marble torso to be overtaken by a warm pink blush. It demonstrates his illusionist aspirations as a sculptor.
In 1904, several months after the artist died, a selection of these late tinted-marble and ivory-bronze sculptures was shown in New York at Tiffany & Co. Soon thereafter the upscale Gilded Age market for academic art collapsed, but in the last hundred years it has inched back. Take the tinted plaster model for “Corinth,” Gérôme’s final work and on view at the Getty. The allegorical nude represents a “sacred prostitute” from an ancient Peloponnesian city, though she looks pretty much like a Belle Epoque Parisienne. The sculpture was bought by Paris’ Musee d’Orsay in 2008 for more than $560,000.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: A Side Trip to Lyons: Le Bouchon

Yet the evening wasn’t quite over. Near the end of the meal an excited buzz started running through the dining room, whispers passing from client to client. Le patron approaches each table, each client and invites us all to a private tour of his “traboule”, the secret passages that weave between buildings and courtyards all throughout Lyons allowing residents and visitors to pass from building to building without going out into the street. Le patron, elegant and erudite, passionate about the history of his building and his traboule, leaves us laughing at his bawdy brothel jokes, entranced by the stories of famous people, fascinated by the history of this secret, fabulous spot in Lyons, a history of Ancient Rome, the French Resistance, the city’s famous silk workers, presidents and prostitutes, church and politics. An evening truly well spent.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Heirs spar over Ball auction

Susie Morton sued Luckinbill on Monday to seek a judge’s ruling that the auction can proceed.
Luckinbill said Wednesday through her attorney, Ronald J. Palmieri, that if the items she requested are not returned, she will go to court Friday morning to try to stop the auction.
Luckinbill wants the return of seven love letters, Ball’s address book, some portraits and several lifetime achievement awards being offered for sale, Palmieri said.
“It is clear these are personal effects earned by a lifetime of work by someone of great stature in the entertainment community,” Palmieri said in a statement. “To demean their true nature, and prostitute their value in monetary terms, is insulting to Ms. Ball’s memory and contravenes her express desire that these items were to belong to her daughter after her death.”

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: In New York state, corruption never dies

At least a dozen city and state politicians have been implicated in corruption scandals within the past year. It’s a familiar story for a system that has never fully shed its links to the Tammany Hall political machine that used patronage and corruption to maintain power in the 19th century.
Meanwhile the state capital of Albany has been unable to make progress on important matters such as the state budget, which is almost four months overdue.
“Our government is broken, people have lost faith … and I think we need to start in Albany by cleaning out the stables,” said Sean Coffey, one of six candidates running for attorney general. Party primary elections are set for September 14 ahead of the general election on November 2.
The office has been used most prominently to crack down on financial crimes, notably by Eliot Spitzer who prosecuted Wall Street abuses and went on to win election as governor before being forced to resign in a prostitution scandal.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Behind The, Um, Curtains Of Porn

Released in April, Off the Set is in essence an offering of exactly what the title says, an inside look into the private lives of 10 couplings of adult film stars and their partners shot over a five-year period by Paulie & Pauline and accompanied by writings from the porn stars themselves like a love letter from Butts, an interview with Madison Young and an essay by Buck Angel. It captures elements of the preconceived expected—stripper poles, intercourse and S&M—as well as the unexpected—children’s toys, Coffee Mate and tree climbing for a start, showing a side of adult film stars that’s little seen and even less accepted by the public at large. “For too long the discussion about the reality of life for people in the industry has tended to focus on the preconceived notions of various stereotypes of people in the industry, and it seems mainstream media has shied away from pulling aside the curtain and really taking a close look at these people and the choices they make in their lives,” says Paulie.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Performance Art

Before Irene and I sat down together, the real estate agent showed me the “Chaka Khan Room,” the only suite currently available. Twenty-foot Renaissance style ceilings sheltered a large bedroom/sitting room with spacious bath, tiny bar-kitchen and a walk-in closet larger than some New York City hotel rooms… large enough in fact to do my daily yoga meditation when I needed a reprieve from the 65th Street traffic streaming out of the Central Park tunnel. The agent explained that she called it the Chaka Khan Room because the singer liked to stay there when she was performing in the city.
The décor was a bit over-the-top for my taste. Dramatic to the hilt, it married a spectacular conflux of Ralph Lauren Safari fragrance ads with the Edwardian elegance of a Nairobi gentleman’s club before The Great War. Tufted sofas in buttery chestnut leather… a mirrored armoire with burled walnut doors… African sculpture… zebra rugs scattered here and there…golden sconces and chandeliers…leopard fabric pillows bound in black silk… and, across from the rose marble and mahogany fireplace, the piece de resistance framed above the king size bed: a five foot tall nude.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Mel Gibson receiving therapy over outbursts

The actor’s pal said Mr Gibson was in therapy, adding: “He’s coping as well as can be expected.”
An eight-minute recording of a phone argument between Mr Gibson and his then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva in which he allegedly tells her she “deserved” to be hit was posted online this week.
In the recording, posted by RadarOnline.com, Ms Grigorieva can be heard chastising him for allegedly punching her in the face and breaking two of her teeth.
“What kind of a man is that?” she is heard saying. “Hitting a woman when she’s holding a child in her hands? Breaking her teeth twice in the face! What kind of man is that?”
Oscar-winning Mr Gibson allegedly responds: “You know what, you … (expletive) deserved it.”
Last week a recording posted by RadarOnline.com included Mr Gibson allegedly using a racial slur and calling his ex-girlfriend a “prostitute”.
