Gray told authorities he used church funds to pay for dinners, hotel rooms, clothing and orders placed to Campus Escorts in New York.
“Mr. Gray stated that he is gay and does have a problem with the church’s position on homosexuality,” the arrest warrant stated.
The alleged theft was uncovered by church officials.
Gray allegedly spent more than $205,000 on meals at restaurants like Tavern on the Green, more than $130,000 on hotel stays, including at the Waldorf-Astoria, often at the times he hired male escorts. He is also accused of dropping more than $80,000 on pricey clothing, the Post said.
Gray also took out credit cards for a man he met at a male strip club and another he met through an escort service, the Daily News said. One charged $67,000, and the other spent nearly $50,000 on goods from luxury retailer Louis Vuitton and gym membership fees.

Officials say the former priest disgruntled over the Catholic church’s treatment towards homosexuals stole $1.3 million over the course of seven years. He’s reported to have spend the cash from church coffers on designer clothes, luxury Manhattan hotels, restaurants and even went so far as to pay Harvard tuition classes for a man he met in Central Park.
Waterbury police Capt. Christopher Corbett read the items parishioners donations paid for and it read like the purchases of a mogul. The 64-year-old stayed at the W Hotel and the Waldorf-Astoria, ate at Tavern on the Green and bought Armani and Brooks Brothers suits, cell phones and laptops.
Court documents also reveal a secret deal Gray allegedly arranged with a cell phone provider that allowed a California company to lease space inside Sacred Heart’s steeple. That deal alone, netted Gray and additional $200,000, which he didn’t disclose to the Archdiocese of Hartford.
In addition to spending lavishly on himself he opened credit card accounts for two men he met. One he met at a male strip club and another via a male escort service.
