From the first song to the last, the level of performance from Passion Pit was bar none. Their set was so electric they were being tipped from the pit! And not small bills, no, no. One concert-goer slipped lead singer Michael Angelakos a twenty dollar bill while the band worked out a technical issue. As the show went on Michael would periodically try to give the bill back, each time being refused, until finally some other audience members threw a few singles on stage. Aren’t bras and underwear the more traditional thing to fling? Hey, these boys aren’t strippers, but they sure are stars.

COLONIE — Authorities say two brothers have been charged with beating and torturing two Vermont sisters in a Colonie motel room over a dispute involving the men’s escort service.
Officials say Friday the sisters from Pawlet, Vt. traveled to New York City in February after seeing an Internet advertisement for jobs in the entertainment business. Police say once there, the sisters realized the jobs were for illegal escort services and left the city.
Police say 31-year-old Colby Sylvain of Bayonne, N.J. and 29-year-old Herby Sylvain of Brooklyn tracked the sisters to an upstate motel, where they beat, tortured and robbed the women.
The brothers were arraigned Monday on charges including assault and unlawful imprisonment and grand larceny. They were sent to jail.

The elements of Love Ranch that are the most fascinating involve screenwriter Mark Jacobson’s examination of the Bontempos inability to run their perfectly legal business inside the law. They seem incapable of managing their operation without cheating the IRS and keeping two sets of accounting books, among their many offenses. I was especially impressed with Pesci’s work as Charlie, a man who pitches his brothel and prostitutes like used cars. His ridiculous southern accent underscores the lengths he will go to to get people to like him and use his services. But he also manages to unleash an ugly, dangerous, slightly psychotic side that made me think, “Ah, there’s the Joe Pesci we know and love.” Mirren certainly goes for a more Zen approach to her performance, but her real strength comes in the gradual breaking down of her resistance to falling in love with Bruza.

As a New Yorker and head of a women’s organization, I received scores of emails from enraged women when word got out that CNN was considering hiring the disgraced former governor. The network couldn’t possibly be serious? After all, we had witnessed the very public humiliation of Silda Wall Spitzer, the brilliant, talented spouse who gave up the prospect of a high-powered career to play the supporting role and raise the children.
Silda was and is a tireless advocate for causes related to women and children. In fact, I was on the Planning Committee for My Sister’s Place where Silda was scheduled to deliver the keynote address on March 11, 2008 on the subject of reducing domestic violence. Many of us had months before heard Silda’s inspiring speech about the importance of getting more women into government. Tragically, on March 10th, we learned that then Governor Spitzer had been caught on a federal wiretap arranging a rendezvous with a high-priced prostitute.

Heat Vision reported the story this morning, along with the information that Spencer will play a prostitute named Alice, a former lover of leading man Daniel Craig’s character who makes him change his ways.

Two young women from Pawlet say they were tortured after responding to an ad for an escort service in New York.
The two unnamed sisters told police they didn’t realize they were dealing with a prostitution operation when they responded to the online ad.
The girls claim they went to New York to check the company out and instead were tied up and beaten with baseball bats when they tried to leave. They were then put in the bathtub and a cold shower was turned on them.
Colby Sylvain, 30, and Herby Sylvain, 28, are facing multiple charges, including robbery, burglary and assault. If convicted, they could be sentenced to 25 years in prison.
