First, Vince Young got arrested for misdemeanor assault in a strip club fracas in Texas.
Now, fellow Tennessee Titans quarterback Chris Simms has been arrested in New York on a charge of driving a motor vehicle while impaired by marijuana.
According to the New York Post, Simms, the 29-year-old son of former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms, was found to have “red eyes, flushed face and slurred speech” during the traffic stop at nearly 2 a.m.
Simms was booked and is scheduled to be arraigned today at Manhattan Criminal Court.
There was no immediate comment from the Titans, but this is turning into a messy offseason with Young’s previous arrest as well as the ongoing contract dispute with Chris Johnson.

Chris Simms arrested for driving while impaired by marijuana
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 1, 2010 12:42 PM ET
Titans quarterback Chris Simms was arrested in New York City early this morning for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by marijuana, the New York Post is reporting.
According to the report, Simms “was observed with red eyes, flushed face and slurred speech at around 2 a.m.”
Simms spent Thursday morning getting booked and awaiting arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court.
Simms is the second Titans quarterback to be arrested in less than a month; Vince Young got an assault citation in June for hitting someone at a strip club in Dallas.

… 70s pop icon Helen Reddy (”I Am Woman”) recounts the horror of her local lingerie peddler: “They’ve got pasties—you know, like strippers wear… They’ve got all these little fancy things, which all have wires… So I finally said to the salesgirl, ‘Do you have underwear that isn’t slutty? And she pointed me to the sports department.” According to Reddy, it’s Madonna’s fault, for killing the virgin/whore diad: “Now we’re all whores.” A baffled spokesperson for Madonna asked, “Why should Madonna be blamed for Helen Reddy not being able to find a good-fitting bra?” Yeah, that part was weird, but she does have a point. (Also weird: Her claim that underwires cause cancer. Last time I heard that it was from a Christian fundamentalist in an ankle-length A-line skirt at orchestra camp.) [P6]

In hindsight, they realised much of what they had written and recorded possessed a dark, sinister quality. Which, they know now, is not what anyone wants from Scissor Sisters. What they represent to their fans is not darkness — it’s a good time.
So this week they released the excellent Night Work, an uninhibited, sometimes filthy dance record.
The alias-heavy quintet is one of contemporary pop’s most surreal stories. The theatrical Shears, a former stripper, and New Yorker Babydaddy (Scott Hoffman) met at university in 1999 before meeting Ana Matronic at a Halloween party a year later. (It was some night — Matronic arrived dressed as an Andy Warhol ‘‘Factory’’ reject and Shears as a back-alley abortion.)
Shears met guitarist Del Marquis (Derek Gruen) while working as a stripper. Erstwhile drummer Paddy Boom (Patrick Seacor) was the final piece of this bizarre puzzle.

Reddy, 68, was speaking in an interview on BlogTalkRadio from her home in Sydney, when she recalled the shopping incident.
“I was in London earlier this year, and I had to get some new bras — because [mine] were falling off me,” the New York Post quoted her as telling host Janet Powers.
“I go into the women’s lingerie department, and they’ve got pasties-you know, like strippers wear.
“They’ve got all these little fancy things, which all have wires — which I believe cause breast cancer-but nothing that’s for women who are older, or who are heavier, or who would like to dress like a lady.
“So I finally said to the salesgirl, ‘Do you have any underwear that isn’t slutty?’ — and she pointed me to the sports department!

Helen Reddy blames Madonna for making ‘virgins’ ‘whores’!
New York, July 1 (ANI): Australian singer/actress Helen Reddy has revealed how a recent shopping trip for bras left her seething, and it was supposedly all because of the Queen of Pop, Madonna.

The federal prosecutor was less poetic. To Assistant U.S. Atty. Michael Farbiarz, Chapman is a “practiced deceiver.”
Chris Giglio, who runs crisis management at the HL Group, a New York public relations and communications firm, said if Chapman has a compelling story, she stands to cash in.
“People will want to hear her speak and tell her side of this story,” said Giglio, a former producer for NBC’s Dateline. The public will judge whether she is an “attention-seeking sensationalist bimbo” or a beauty with a captivating tale.
“We’re talking a reality TV star versus a someone worthy of bio pic,” Giglio said.
Giglio recalled the prostitute seen by former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer. “Look at Ashley Dupre; today she has a [sex advice] column in the [New York] Post,” he said.

Few of these memoirs present a terrible dilemma from which a larger moral truth – or even a larger narrative arc – may gracefully emerge. Most have been written by women younger than 40, women who appear from some angles too young and ordinary to have amassed enough raw experience to spin into printed gold. But the ordinariness is precisely what makes these books an extraordinary sociopolitical phenomenon: They reflect a new world in which regular women are expected to have professional, economic and sexual agency, in which their single status is not the stuff of Lily Bart-ian social shame or Erica Jong-ian sexual iconoclasm.
In decades not so far removed from our own, to have been unattached in your 20s, let alone into your 30s, was to hover perilously close to economic collapse, social disapprobation and moral condemnation. The ghosts of past generations of single urban women of the most tragic sort haunt one of Crosley’s essays: the story of her attempt to sublet a hip apartment in a now-demolished Bowery brothel where scores of prostitutes had killed themselves at the turn of the 20th century.

But more consequentially, King’s network, CNN, has been pummeled by the left-right punch of MSNBC and Fox News, leaving it struggling to reestablish relevancy and ratings in the genre it originated.
This has had political impact as well, as CNN’s opinionated rivals reflect and create the partisanship that’s defining Washington culture.
But CNN may have itself to blame: Its “Crossfire” talking (or shouting) heads show created today’s cable-network blueprint. As did Lou Dobbs’ detour from Wall Street to the dark alleys of nativism, as well as the most recent embarrassment, inflammatory RedState.com blogger Erick Erickson, whose blurts blur lines even further.
CNN’s hard-news marketing mantra isn’t being matched journalistically: Out goes respected Christiane Amanpour; in comes Eliot Spitzer, former New York governor and call girl Ashley Dupre’s client No. 9.
