… You almost have to feel sorry for Kristin Davis, a/k/a, the former madam of a prostitution ring that allegedly supplied bigwigs (including Eliot Spitzer) with call girls. Not only did her business go bust, she’s now running into logistical troubles with her intended gubernatorial run. ‘Cause, you know, you have to come up with a name for your party, and while “Reform Party” seemed so promising, the actual Reform Party has now sent her a cease and desist demanding her to change the name. Immediately.
According to the Observer, Reform Party National Committee chairman David Collison sent the e-mail to Davis on June 29. While the party gave the OK to Ross Perot to use the name for his presidential run in the ’90s, they point out that Davis’s mission has little to do with their own. And anyway, even Perot had to go with the Independence Party in New York. It’s all rather complicated, enough so that Davis says she’ll just pick a new name already. But names are hard!

Mayor Eliot Spitzer?
Posted at: 07/01/2010 4:31 PM
He was disgraced as New York governor but could we be calling him “Mayor Spitzer” someday?
A source with the New York Post says Eliot Spitzer’s new gig as co-host of a primetime show on CNN is a way to regain his image. Spitzer stepped down as governor after admitting he was involved in a call girl ring.
The Post sources say he sees the TV show as a way to repair his reputation and to make people forget the scandal.
They add that his plan is to run for mayor of New York when Mike Bloombergs term ends in 2013.

Is it possible to go even a couple of days without a sports star being arrested or in the news for conduct unbecoming? This week Tennessee Titans Quarterback Vince Young got good news that he may avoid suspension for his part in a Dallas strip club incident a few weeks ago.
Now today comes news that their backup quarterback Chris Simms was arrested Thursday in New York City on charges of driving while on drugs, according to police.
Simms is the son of former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms, a current CBS sports commentator who once led the Giants to two Super Bowls, playing 14 seasons with the team.
The 29-year-old quarterback was pulled over about 1:30 a.m. in Manhattan early this morning. Police say he appeared to be slurring his speech and his eyes were red, and that it further appeared Simms had been smoking marijuana. Saying they smelled marijuana in Simms’ car but did not find any.

Arrests aiding Rusty Smith’s chances with Titans? > Posted by Ted Hutton on July 1, 2010 03:30 PM
Wow, talk about implosions, look no farther than the Tennessee Titans QB situation.
Chris Simms, who always struck me as one of those heads-on-right kind of guys (probably because of his dad, Phil), is busted for DUI in NYC. Under the influence of BOTH pot and alcohol, with his pregnant wife in the car. Yikes.
The juicy details are in the NEW YORK POST, with the TENNESSEAN gets into the QB situation at the end, along with another problem for Simms.
This after Vince Young got popped for popping someone in a strip club not long ago.
Now, residents of Owl Country should be well aware that ex-Owl star Rusty Smith was drafted by the Titans in the sixth round in April, and he was battling Simms for the third and final roster spot at QB.

The 29-year-old was driving a 2009 Mercedes Benz in the West Village, the report said. He smelled of marijuana and told police he had smoked earlier in the car, a source told the Post.
Simms was awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal court. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney. Calls to his agent and the Titans weren’t immediately returned.
Simms started 16 games during his six-year NFL career. He came to the Titans after playing for the Broncos for a season as an unrestricted free agent. He was a third-round draft pick by Tampa Bay in 2003.
Simms is the second Titans quarterback in trouble with the law in recent weeks. Vince Young was cited for assault earlier in June for hitting someone at a strip club in Dallas.

Simms, the son of New York Giants 1987 Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms, spent 2009 with the Denver Broncos. He played in one game for Tennessee in 2008. Simms has not been a starter since playing in 11 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2005. The former Texas standout ruptured his spleen that year and has never been able to regain a starting position in the NFL. Last season with the Broncos, Simms appeared in three games — one start — and completed 5-of-17 passes for 23 yards with an interception.
In 23 career games in seven seasons with Denver, Tennessee and Tampa Bay, Simms has completed 297-of-511 pass attempts for 3,117 yards and 12 touchdowns with 18 interceptions.
Simms is the second Titans quarterback to face legal trouble in the last month as Vince Young was given a citation for assault connected with a fight at a Dallas strip club.

Paul’s only connection to life is through his team and calling the local sports talk radio station to speak to the Sports Dogg (SNY viewers will recognize the voice of Scott Ferrell playing the part) about the hated Philadelphia Eagles and how his favorite player, Giants superstar linebacker Quantral Bishop, cannot be stopped. And as a regular caller, Paul gets on the air any time he wants to vent using his carefully prepared, handwritten ad-libs.
One evening, when Paul and Sal are driving around Staten Island they spot Bishop at a gas station filling up. For them, there’s only one logical thing to do: follow Bishop’s car. And so they do, all the way into a strip club in Manhattan where they sit, mesmerized, across the room from the star linebacker and his entourage. Not even the come-ons from the working hostesses can detour Paul and Sal from their goal to introduce themselves to their hero and maybe get an autograph. They’ve come too far to turn back.
