Manhattan Strip Clubs: Tiger Woods’ return is perfectly placed

The media situation is extremely beneficial to Woods at Augusta. The men in the green jackets control access to their tournament like no others, and outfits like TMZ and the National Enquirer need not apply for credentials. They may not have gotten passes if Woods’ return came in a PGA Tour event either, but at virtually any other tournament those connivers in the pay-as-you-go tabloid trade no doubt would have managed to sneak their cameras in.
At Augusta, where the grounds are protected and patrolled as if it were the Pentagon, the ticket is one of the toughest to get in sports and every fan goes through a metal detector at the gate. You can bet the airspace will be secured, too. (Not much of a chance for a strip club to seize the day.)

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Lifeless season opener thrills WJT boss

Earlier this year a life-size bronze sculpture called Walking Man by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti sold for more than $104 million to become the most expensive work of art ever to sell at auction.
Giacometti’s instantly recognizable long, thin sculptures of solitary figures are the inspiration for Grant Guy and his latest theatrical work Still Walking, opening tonight at Adhere and Deny’s pocket theatre at 315-70 Albert St. Instead of focusing on Giacometti’s iconic art, Guy uses the artist’s private life as a starting point for a stage portrait of a marriage that has reached a stage of inertia.
“He was pretty much impotent to romantic love and could only function in mechanical love with prostitutes,” says Guy, artistic director of his Adhere and Deny theatre company. “He and his wife had no physical contact. I thought he was an interesting character to build a work around.”

West New York cops say phony business card and a tip lead to a prostitution service and the arrests of 2 in latest sting

WEST NEW YORK – In yet another prostitution bust, Bertha Gonzalez, 28, of Union City, and Jose Garay-Rodriguez, 33, of Jersey City, were put behind bars on Friday, police said.
Gonzalez was charged with prostitution, Garay-Rodriguez with promoting prostitution, police said.
The Street Crimes/Narcotics Unit received information last week about a prostitution delivery service that was advertising through a business card for “Jarrin’s Painting and Cleaning Service,” reports said.
An undercover police officer placed a phone call to the number on the card and arranged to meet with a female prostitute at an undisclosed residence on 58th Street and Palisade Avenue, police said.

Since Dec. 31, West New York police have carried out 10 prostitution sting operations that have led to 28 arrests, police said.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Summit Academy at a nadir

It’s looking less likely that Boerum Hill’s hottest prostitution corner will become the site of a new charter school.
That development comes courtesy of Community Board 6, which last week rejected the Summit Academy’s bid for a special permit to open a school in a defunct warehouse on the corner of Butler and Nevins streets — the site of at least eight prostitution arrests in the past two months.
The board’s March 10 vote was 20-12.
“This is an absolutely horrible place to site a school,” said board member Debra Scotto, who voted against the special permit. “There are prostitutes [there]. It’s abysmal.”
After the vote, Summit Academy Executive Director Natasha Campbell refused to say if the Butler Street warehouse had been abandoned, adding only that the school remains in “an exploratory phase, looking for a permanent home.”

It’s not only prostitution that was on board members’ minds last week. The site has also been derided for its speeding truck traffic.
