NEW YORK (WPIX) – Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, D’Angelo was arrested Saturday after allegedly offering an undercover policewoman $40 in exchange for oral sex.
The “Brown Sugar” singer had been driving alone through the West Village with $12,000 stashed in his supped-up Range Rover when he propositioned the woman, the New York Post reported.
D’Angelo, 36, whose real name is Michael Archer, took the officer to be a prostitute. He was immediately arrested at Greenwich and Horatio streets at about 2:30 a.m., the Post said.
The singer has since been charged with solicitation.
His manager declined to comment.

He was arrested and charged with solicitation after asking the woman for sex, the sources said. The singer also had $12,000 stashed in his SUV.
DAngelo was arrested in 2005 for driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence in his home state of Virginia. He was fined and received a suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty.
