Manhattan Strip Clubs: The Marriage Ref: I’m sorry. I just don’t get it

Sunday night the panel consisted of Seinfeld, Kelly Ripa and Alec Baldwin. Now, I don’t know if they thought it was inherently funny that Baldwin — an infamously “challenged” husband and father — was included to give advice to couples dealing with important issues like whether to install a stripper pole in their bedroom, but it wasn’t. It was uncomfortable. I mean, it was just a couple of weeks ago they took him to the hospital in the middle of the night after he had yet another nasty fight with his young teenaged daughter.

The problems the couples bring to the panel are not serious. Stripper pole, dead stuffed dog in the living room. We’re not talking Dr. Phil here. To me, I guess the problem is I just don’t get it. If it’s supposed to be funny, it falls far short of the mark. If it’s supposed to be Jerry sitting around with people he thinks are funny, then it’s boring to watch. If it’s supposed to be some slice of Americana, then, uh, I don’t want to know about it.

Manhattan Escorts: Homelessness in city schools rises with recession

… Data published by the city of New York clearly shows that the economic crisis has increased homelessness among NYC single individuals and families,” said economics lecturer Anna Musatti. “Starting from 2001, families with children represent a larger and fast-increasing portion of the city homeless.”
Out of the 410 students at Carmel’s school, he knows of six who are currently living in shelters. But he said that there could be more, since he only knows students are homeless if they tell him personally, because shelters can also be used as a permanent address for school paperwork.
“Some of our kids are real troopers,” Carmel said. “They pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and … charge ahead with work.”
Democracy Prep provides students with transportation to and from school if they don’t qualify for city-issued MetroCards, an escort service, outside support while their parents are busy, and in-school counseling, Carmel said.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: ‘Marriage Ref’ has too few funny riffs

After endless promotion of the series, NBC aired a half-hour episode of “The Marriage Ref’’ on Sunday after the Olympics. It was an underwhelming, contrived product that didn’t bode well for the hourlong version of the series, which takes its regular time slot in one of the most critical spots in NBC’s week, Thursday night at 10 on Channel 7. Obviously marriage is a fantastic opportunity for a button-pushing reality show, one that could pick apart relationship conflicts and offer drama and comedy. But “The Marriage Ref’’ is just a forced way to get a panel of famous people – the first guests were Alec Baldwin, Kelly Ripa, and Seinfeld – to spit out one-liners about cartoonish couples who are fighting over, say, whether to put a stripper pole in their bedroom.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: ‘Marriage Ref’: Having a tiff? Let Sarah Silverman or Larry David help you

Their counsel is, of course, For Entertainment Purposes Only. (Papa’s own advice to singles still searching for their soul mates: “Find someone you can sleep next to without throwing up and marry them.” Wocka wocka wocka.) This is not “Dr. Phil,” nor is it, strictly speaking, a game, but there are winners and losers and prizes for everyone. It’s no accident or surprise that Seinfeld’s fellow executive producers are veterans not of comedy but of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and “Supernanny” or that the show’s international distribution is being handled by Endemol, home of “Big Brother” and “Deal or No Deal.”
The arguments Sunday were over Husband No. 1’s desire to stuff and prominently display his deceased Boston terrier and Husband No. 2’s yen to install a stripper pole in the bedroom. Everyone thought the dog was a bad idea, but there was some disagreement over the pole; Kelly Ripa, who joined Seinfeld and Baldwin on Sunday, thought it could be “freaky-deaky,” while Seinfeld, speaking from the soul of a nightclub comic, noted, “It’s still one guy in the dark, clapping.”

Manhattan Strip Clubs: 24 Season 8 Episode 10 1:00-2:00AM – review

Time to wrap things up.  Omar’s mean wife is being so mean, and she knew about her daughter the whole time; what a breach of trust.  Wife’s assistant is in a full burka, way to be real, 24.  Underlings have to be totally subjugated, but the President’s wife is free to be as Western as she wants.  The hospital showdown is a good set-up, but there isn’t much tension as rookie CTU guy gets rookie terrorist to give him a little strip tease.  It is all for naught, as Chloe is able to jam up the suicide vest.  You should have seen the look on the goon’s face, “Why didn’t I put a manual detonation trigger on the vest!?”  A jump from the window will suffice, and a trip to the barometric chamber.  We get a glimpse of some steamy Persian lovemaking, some goons never ever finishing their meal at the diner, and the rookie terrorist planning his final move.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: "Manhattan Madam" makes it official: Kristin Davis is running for governor …

Her economic prescription for New York is “P Squared – prostitution and pot.”  She says that legalization of both, a combed $15 Billion a year industry annualy in New York alone could help bridge the budget gap by taxation alone.  “This black market activity is happening anyway,” said Davis.  “Taxing it is just common sense.”
Davis has hired veteran political consultant Roger Stone to manage her campaign.
“I’ve always been a libertarian and I agree with all of the principles that Kristin believes in,” Stone told examiner.com.  “She’s got a wide appeal and will garner widespread support.”
But before Davis can run, she’s got to get herself on the ballot and that will take 15,000 valid petition signatures.
Stone told examiner.com that Davis will use her vast network of supporters as well as “prostitutes, strippers, pot smokers and gay rights advocates” to gather at least 45,000 petition signatures, as well as to build a legal team to withstand challenges he expects from both Cuomo and Lazio.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Review: ‘Nine’ at Westchester Broadway Theatre

Lauren Blackman plays Claudia, an actress who comes to Venice to rekindle her romance with Guido, only to find he is only interested in casting her in the same role she has performed in previous films. “A Man Like You/Unusual Way” opens the second act with a telling dialogue between them that reveals the personal and artistic sources of Guido’s character.
Dana Moore is Liliane La Fleur, a movie producer who puts pressure on Guido to come up immediately with a script. In “Folies Bergeres” she revisits her past role as a Parisian dancer who introduced young Guido to the musical stage.
As Guido’s mother, Emily Zacharias recalls in “Nine” her love for her son and her shock when she learns he has skipped school and met a prostitute on the beach. Cari Chrisotomou is that prostitute who advises the young boy to be himself as she sings “Ti Voglio Bene/Be Italian.” Travis Ramirez, who alternates with Zach Rand, played the 9-year old, singing “Getting Tall” as he advises himself to grow up.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Report: Paterson directed staff to contact woman

On Friday, Paterson said he was ending his campaign for a full term because the scandal was too much of a distraction from his mission to right the state’s finances in a crisis.
Other top Democrats are starting to question whether Paterson will be able to serve out his term.
“My greatest fear is the next shoe will drop, and the situation further deteriorates both in terms of the governor’s future and the direction of the Legislature in getting this budget passed,” said Assemblyman Ronald Canestrari, majority leader of the Assembly.
Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, a fellow Democrat, said later that he doesn’t think “anyone knows” whether Paterson can be a viable governor.
Paterson was lieutenant governor when he succeeded Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned in a prostitution scandal. He has less than a year left in his term.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: New York Politics – Campbell Brown’s Hubby, Spitzer’s Madam?

In a recent Siena poll, Gillibrand scored low with only a 34-percent favorable rating – compared to Gov. David Paterson’s 35 percent favorable rating (and we all know he’ll be job hunting before the year’s over). Only 30 percent said they would vote to re-elect Gillibrand. But when decision time comes, New Yorkers have proven Einstein’s definition of insanity election after election – voting for the same candidates, expecting different results.
In other news — Kristin Davis, the former madame who ran one of New York’s biggest and most expensive escort services (serving the likes of Eliot Spitzer, among others), announced today she plans to make a run for Paterson’s post as governor of New York. Davis told Sean Hannity on his show today she’s already secured the campaign services of renowned Republican strategist Roger Stone, a self-described “GOP hitman.” There will be no shortage of tasteless jokes in this race.
Davis’ platform – “P-squared.” Legalize pot and prostitution to bring billions in new revenue to the state. Sure, she talked about other issues, but how can you get past P-squared?

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Report: Paterson directed staff to contact woman

State Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs, close to Paterson, said the governor shouldn’t step down if there are no more damaging reports. He’s advising Democrats to “take a deep breath, work with the governor and his team and hammer some compromises to keep the state solvent. That’s how elected officials are going to be judged in November.”
Paterson said abandoning his campaign frees him to govern and address a deficit of more than $8 billion in the upcoming state budget.
“I can make decisions and I won’t have to hear a robotic response from the Legislature that ‘he’s doing this for politics, he’s doing this to get his poll numbers up, he’s running against the Legislature because we’re more unpopular than he is,’” Paterson said.
Paterson was lieutenant governor when he succeeded Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned in a prostitution scandal.
