New York Attorney Robert Simels, Serving a 14-Year Prison Sentence, Co-Owns Baltimore Condo with Kenny “Bird” Jackson’s Mother
Robert Simels, the New York criminal-defense lawyer who for decades represented some of Baltimore’s most notorious drug-world defendants, won’t be using his Water Street condominium in downtown Baltimore anytime soon. In early January, he began serving a 14-year prison sentence for intimidating witnesses on behalf of one of his clients, Shaheed “Roger” Khan, a former Marylander convicted in New York of running a massive Guyana-based cocaine conspiracy.
Simels purchased Unit 1201 at 414 Water St. with Rosalie Jackson in 2008 for $362,300, according to land records. Rosalie Jackson is the mother and business partner of Kenny “Bird” Jackson, the politically connected ex-con who owns the Eldorado Lounge strip club on East Lombard Street.

Kristen on Breaking Dawn future
Monday, 22 February 2010
Kristen Stewart has said the future of fourth Twilight movie Breaking Dawn is “up in the air”.
Asked about reports that she, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are not yet signed up to star in the last Twilight movie, she said: “We’re all definitely on board to do Breaking Dawn, but what’s up in the air at the moment is whether it’s going to be one or two films and at the moment we still don’t know.”
The teen heroine was also asked about her upcoming independent movies, one about The Runaways and one in which she plays a stripper.
She said: “They’re both rated R so if you’re a Twilight fan and you’re under 18, I’m sorry. But I don’t know – actors never start acting so they can find one character and become famous for it.”

We assumed they would hire us if they thought we were cute, so we got all dolled up and Googled ‘New York City strip clubs.’
We called a car to my friend’s Brooklyn apartment, where we’re staying for this week, and headed into Manhattan to investigate the first club, which shall remain nameless because they have our personal information.
“Oh, hi!” the door staff said to us politely. “Are you applying to be waitresses?”
“We’re applying to be dancers,” we said, smiling sweetly and taking the applications.
“Oh, OK,” the tall man said. We filled out the sheet of paperwork at a small table in the hallway. Name, dancer-name, social security number. Any arrest record? Bra size. Height. Weight. Hair color. Eye color. Tattoos? Scars? Would we dance topless? Naked? All of the above? Short description of work history.
…
What! Now, when you hear this at a strip club, this is absolutely not true.
Pro-tip: strip clubs are always hiring, unless they aren’t hiring you.

The killer whose gruesome rampage of horror spawned The Post’s most famous headline, “Headless Body in Topless Bar,” will remain behind bars — at least for now.
Charles Dingle, 51, was denied parole this month, for the third time in 27 years.
But in an exclusive interview with The Post at Elmira State Prison, the convicted murderer recently vowed that his fight for freedom was far from over.
He claimed he was not the person behind the 1983 atrocity at a Queens strip club, in which one man was decapitated, a dancer was raped and several others were robbed and held hostage.
“I have spent the last 27 years studying the law and fighting this conviction,” said Dingle, as he cited court cases and appellate decisions like a seasoned lawyer.

I have danced with this girl for 10 months now, and I have seen her happy many times, but I have never seen her as happy as she was when she explored New York’s famous candy store, Dylan’s Candy Bar, pictured below.
Her smile was even bigger when she had her first bites of her multi-course birthday dinner at Fig + Olive. She checked out Tao, a restaurant with high-quality Asian food, a fun bar scene, and over-the-top decor. I took her to Whiskey Blue, a favorite bar of mine at the midtown W Hotel. Times Square, Bloomingdale’s, a David Burke restaurant, the Plaza (home of Eloise!), a comedy club (where, as “strippers from Kansas,” we were significant fodder). BLT Steak, Morimoto, Chelsea Markets, and—squeal!–Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment on Sex and the City–we’ve run around and seen so much.

For the next four years, the Mayas said, they risked their safety working long hours undercover. Wearing wires, they infiltrated a prostitution ring, worked in a factory that hired undocumented workers and provided information on human smuggling operations and gangs.
However, according to the Mayas, instead of receiving the promised “S” visa, which could lead to permanent legal status, ICE informed them last year that their information was no longer useful and they could be deported.
…
But the agents were friendly and professional. They were looking for information on people involved with drugs, gangs, human smuggling operations, prostitution and selling false papers. They made it clear that they couldn’t pay for information, and that the Mayas would have to sign forms stating that they would never talk about their undercover work, not even with their immediate family.
…
In February 2006, the agents decided to take the next step. They wired Emilio and sent him to a Main Street house that operated a prostitution ring.

Blonde Venus screens at WET
Starring Marlene Dietrich and upcoming star Cary Grant, Blonde Venus recounts the story of a wife turned entertainer and prostitute as she tries to raise money for her ailing husband. Told in the way only the Germans could, the film is a testament both to the current situation in the Weimar Republic, and will certainly raise the eyebrows of American audiences. However, Dietrich as she did in this year’s Shanghai Express, delivers a performance definitely not to be missed and solidifies her reputation as cinema’s leading lady. Blonde Venus screens at WET, tonight. more on Blonde Venus.

Tiger Woods’ live scripted mea culpa on Friday at 11 a.m. Eastern time, from the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., will inevitably be compared with two forms of the modern celebrity apology: one made famous by Mark McGwire and Alex Rodriguez and the second by politicians like Eliot Spitzer and Mark Sanford.
But unless Woods surprises viewers, his brief statement (no questions, please, from the few reporters in the room) will not fall into either category.
Woods is not an officeholder who has violated the trust of those who elected him. Spitzer resigned as governor of New York after revelations about money he spent on call girls. Sanford’s affair with his Argentine “soulmate” humiliated him and led to the still-sitting South Carolina governor’s pending divorce. Although McGwire delayed apologising for five years, he spent days talking to numerous news media outlets, explaining his drug use. Trying to control his message for as long as he could, he did not face questions during a news conference, but he was criticised for saying he used steroids to benefit his health, not his performance.

Speaking at a gathering of around 500 people at Hofstra University, the Washington Post quoted Governor Paterson as saying “After all you have heard, there’s one rumor I will confirm: I am running for governor this year. They haven’t knocked us down yet, and they never will. “
His personal life and his job performance have been under the scanner lately, and his speech was a direct response to the criticisms and controversies which he presently has to encounter.
He is going to be challenged for the post by contender Andrew Cuomo. Attorney General Cuomo has proved to be much more popular in the polls. Cuomo has so far collected $16 million in campaign accounts, compared to a dismal $3 million by Paterson.
Paterson was appointed governor of New York in March 2008, after Eliot Spitzer stepped down amidst a prostitution scandal.
