THE WEEK THAT WAS
Metro’s newsologists sniff out all the media’s cooking to discover the lean nuggets of truth within
We already know Davis won’t bring anything substantial to politics — that’s why she’s perfect.
Davis: Change that we won’t be fooled by
“Manhattan Madam” Kristin Davis, the woman who allegedly — we say “allegedly” just to keep from being sued — played matchmaker between former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and prostitutes, announced this week that she will be running as a Libertarian to unseat current New York Gov. David Paterson. We’re sold.
Just look at that fake blonde hair and those boobs that could seat two children. This is clearly not a politician of substance — and that’s exactly the point. By electing Davis, we no longer have to worry about whether we are hiring someone who can get the job done — we already know we’re not. Anxiety overcome.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: New York Gov. Paterson asks Times to clear the air

CNN quoted a Times spokeswoman as saying the newspaper neither started the rumors nor trafficked in them. CNN said the paper’s metropolitan editor said the Times was “not responsible for what other news organizations are reporting,” adding, “It’s not coming from the Times.”
The Times did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
But Paterson said “clearly somebody is” out to get him with the explosive allegations, although he did not speculate as to who might be behind such an effort. He reiterated his determination to run for governor, and again denied allegations of infidelity and recreational drug use.
Paterson, facing a probable challenge for the Democratic Party nomination from state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, took over as governor in 2008 after then-Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned in a prostitution scandal.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: A Cinderella Emerged, Then Quickly Lost Its Way

The Binghamton travesty was certified Thursday in a special report issued by a panel led by Judith S. Kaye, a former chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals.
This cautionary tale shows how Binghamton University, with 11,500 undergraduates holding an excellent average College Board score of 1,290, was held hostage by an upgraded basketball program that forgot to honor academic standards or, for that matter, normal ethics or honesty.
The administrators at Binghamton might as well have leased out a portion of the campus to a counterfeiting operation or a prostitution ring or a drug mill. Go all the way. Instead, a few administrators had the bright idea of turning Binghamton into a powerhouse capable of reaching the N.C.A.A. tournament. What a lousy goal. What poor judgment. By so-called educators.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Baldwin Gallery Opens Exhibition by Doug and Mike Starn and Delia Brown

Several of the scenes in Women depict Brown and her friends cavorting in private spaces they have gained access to play in. In other scenes, the women are disco dolls in a penthouse having what would appear to be a Pre-Party Before A Night at Studio 57. In the Freaky Frida series, the women have grown rather conspicuous facial hair and appear to be marrying each other here or running a brothel there. A more contemplative angle emerges in Reading in the Red Room 2, a moody revival of Browns 2003 project Forsaken Lover. In Sappho Mourns Her Lost Virginity, an ethereal blonde in white pumps and panties, with a head of hair so lush it can only be a wig, wistfully looks up at the sky. And in Felicity Begins to Lose It, a big-eyed young woman clings to a large and creepy totemic sculpture, appearing to be having an encounter with her own inner demons, despite the brightness of her surroundings.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Tough love: The ten worst political affairs

Riddled with all sorts of corruption charges, Kwame Kilpatrick, the former mayor of Detroit, topped it all off with an extramarital affair. Sure, he may have used his influence to funnel $175,000 of state grant money to his wife, but he cheated on her too with his chief of staff Christine Beatty. While they were both married to other people at the time, they denied the affair until evidence from their city-issued cell phones proved otherwise. It was discovered that Beatty texted him asking, “And, did you miss me, sexually?” to which Kilpatrick responded, “Hell yeah! [...] I want some more.”
8. Wilbur Mills’ wet stripper
In 1974, Congressman Wilbur Mills, then the Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, was pulled over by a D.C. police officer for the innocuous charge of driving without headlights. What unfolded was a bit more interesting. The officer found Mills drunk in the back seat with an Argentine stripper giving him some company. In an attempt to escape, the stripper ran out of the car and jumped into the Potomac River. Amazingly, voters re-elected him later that year, but his wife of 40 years probably wasn’t one of them.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Bill Clinton has heart procedure…Jobs bill proposed

WASHINGTON (AP) Senate Democrats have proposed a new, stripped-down version of a jobs bill they hope will still get support from both Republicans and Democrats. But Republicans have accused Democrats of reneging on their deal. The first version had unrelated provisions sought by lobbyists.
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) Ten Americans who have been in detention in Haiti for nearly two weeks could soon be freed. They face child kidnapping charges for attempting to take a busload of children to the Dominican Republic. A judge in Port-au-Prince says they should be released while authorities continue to investigate the case.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Two former Blackwater employees say the security company repeatedly billed the government for excessive or inappropriate expenses, including strippers and a prostitute. The allegations are contained in a federal lawsuit filed in Virginia.
