Manhattan Adult Entertainment: ‘Manhattan Madam’ Kristin Davis: ‘Why I will run for Governor in 2010′

Last Saturday I gave the first political speech of my life. I spoke to the Manhattan Libertarian party and told them I planning a campaign for Governor of New York State. I have not decided whether to seek the Libertarian party nomination or form my own party based on my platform; legalization, regulation and taxation of prostitution, marijuana, and legalizing gay marriage. When was the last time a candidate put forward this kind of honest, radical platform? When is the last time a politician offered the voters something different than higher taxes, more spending, greater debt and service cuts.

I have retained Roger Stone, a well know political consultant to help me prepare for a campaign for governor. I met Roger Stone after we were on a radio show together. He helped expose the hypocrisy of Eliot Spitzer. He is brilliant. He knows how to get the 15,000 signatures I will need to get my name on the ballot. He also shares my positions regarding legalization of prostitution, pot and gay marriage.

New York voters will have a chance to vote to legalize prostitution, pot and gay marriage next November. What could be more exciting?

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Domestic violence = political suicide

Domestic violence = political suicide
by Andrew Clevenger
If we ever needed a reminder that domestic violence crosses socioeconomic lines, we need look no further than headlines from around the country last week.
First, Scott Lee Cohen (right), the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor of Illinois, dropped out of the race on Sunday after information surfaced about several allegedly violent incidents with women in his past.
Since Cohen won the Democratic nomination on Tuesday, it has become widely known that he was accused of abusing his ex-wife and holding a knife to the throat of an ex-girlfriend — a woman who was herself charged with prostitution. He also admits using steroids in the past.
Cohen was arrested in 2005 on domestic battery charges for allegedly pushing his then-girlfriend, Amanda Eneman, against a wall and holding a knife to her throat. The charges were dropped when she failed to show up for a court date. He has denied the allegations and called that relationship tumultuous.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Bernie Kerik: Evil Lawbreaker or Caring Family Guy?

Manuel Balce Ceneta, AP Bernard Kerik, the former police commissioner for New York City, faces up to 33 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges including tax fraud and lying to the Bush White House.
Whatever the take on Kerik — and whether the sentencing memos make an impact on the judge — one thing is clear: His digressions have taken a toll on his family.
According to his memo, Kerik and his wife, Hala, have two young daughters, ages 7 and 9, “who have suffered from psychological trauma because of the media attention to this case, and who have been subjected to taunting at school by chants such as ‘your father is going to jail.’”
The document goes on to say that Kerik, whose father was an alcoholic and whose mother was a prostitute, still enjoys the support of his wife.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Paterson says criticism is racially motivated

Paterson says criticism is racially motivated By Jordan Fabian – 02/10/10 09:09 AM ET In the midst of swirling rumors of a soon-to-be published bombshell story, New York Gov. David Paterson (D) said Wednesday that criticism of him has been motivated by his race. Paterson, who is black and blind, said on Imus in the Morning that he has been the subject of “outrageous rumors” the past two weeks centering around a supposedly damaging report to be published in the New York Times this week. “They’re not really calling for different types of conduct and what I think is that I have been depicted in a way that has been racialized, sexualized, hyper-sexualized and dissolute,” Paterson, referring to his critics, told host Don Imus on Fox Business Network. Paterson has endured almost constant criticism since he assumed office in the wake of ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s (D) resignation in 2008 after it was reported he solicited a prostitute. The former lieutenant governor Paterson, who faces a tough reelect …

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Nasty email rumour flying around about Jay Leno

Now we have word that someone is swooping in to save the day: Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan. DeadlineHollywoodDaily reports that Nolan has been asked to play a “godfather” role and ensure The Man Of Steel takes flight once again. The studio hopes his leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics, the fans, and the box office. Doesn’t hurt that Nolan is considered something of a god at Warner Bros and has a strong relationship with the studio after the success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
Alternative headline for this story: Batman saves Superman. Film at 11.
Only thing Hef is screwing is his magazine
Bad news for Hugh Hefner: as if Playboy’s financial troubles weren’t enough to keep him up (please, someone, stop me with the puns) at night, there are reports today that Hugh Hefner is being sued by the company’s shareholders.
In the lawsuit a Playboy shareholder claims that the adult entertainment empire is falling apart and Hefner has intentionally sabotaged two potential deals in the past six months to sell at a decent price.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Rahab: Choose This Day

Rahab: Choose This Day
Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 Posted: 1:34:56PM HKT
Joshua 2
The king of Jericho sent orders to Rahab, âœBring out the men who have come to you.â (v. 3 NRSV)
Rahab was a prostitute in the city of Jericho. She was used to having men visit her house. But nothing could have prepared her for the choice she faced one momentous day. Two groups of men came knocking on her door one afternoon. The first group was two Israelite young men, sent by Joshua to scout out Jericho on behalf of Godâs people. The second group was a delegation from the king of Jericho, looking for the Israelite spies.
Rahab faced a choice: to side with the Israelites and their God or to side with the Canaanites and their multitude of gods. She had heard stories about the awesome power of Israelâs God; as a result, she and her family chose him.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Indian miracle: Display for Commonwealth Games

Bring Your Child to Work Day: In New Delhi there are upwards of 100 construction projects underway in preparation for the 2010 Commonwealth Games scheduled to take place from Oct. 4 to 13. These projects — ranging from several new stadiums to a new international airport terminal — are drawing vast numbers of migrant workers from all over India to provide the extra labor needed. Contractors, already behind schedule, are taking advantage of lax labor laws and coercing their employees to bring their children to work alongside them, promising payments of bread and milk. Above an Indian girl carries a brick at a construction site in front of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Feb. 3.
All Work and No Play: When it comes to child labor laws, little headway has been made on enforcement. In fact, some, like the UNICEF-sponsored authors of “What Works for Working Children,” have made the argument that child labor is better than the alternatives: no work at all or prostitution. Above, Indian children struggle to shovel rocks in front of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Jan. 30.
