What Was Hot — And What Was Definitely NOT! — During Super Bowl Weekend In Miami!
The weather was cold (for Florida!) but the A-List celebrity parties were HOT, HOT, HOT in Miami over the weekend! But for every sultry and poised Jennifer Lopez, there was a mess like Heidi Montag causing a scene.
Nick Lachey raising $300K 20 different charities at his super skins celebrity golf tournament was really hot!
It was not so hot when Heidi Montag showed up to the Maxim magazine party at the Raleigh Hotel and started swinging around a heat lamp like it was a stripper pole!
Jennifer Lopez looked so amazing at the Direct TV Beach Ball event. Plus, it doesn’t get much hotter than J.Lo playing football against Taylor Lautner! In the middle of talking to Katie Cassidy on the red carpet for ESPN The Magazine’s NEXT party, Katie just fell forwards into a line of reporters! Katie, wear shoes you can walk in next time because falling on your face is NOT hot!

I asked Stone the obvious question — just what kind of stunt is this, exactly?
He assured me Davis was serious, and that she genuienly hopes to shake up the race with her focus on legalizing pot and the sex trade. She’s reached out to the state’s Libertarian Party, but if they won’t have her, Stone said she’s preparted to start her own “Personal Freedom” party. Thanks to New York’s byzantine elections rules, that will require her to collect around 45,000 signatures from across the state by late June, a tall order for any politician.
But not every politician has Davis unique assets, which Stone said includes “an enormous Army of strippers.” On the money side of things, Stone said Davis has lined up financial support from “Northern California pot farmers” and her long list of “ex-clients.”

Back in New Orleans, in Bourbon Street, Jackson Square and the French Quarter, in neighbourhoods that were until recently scenes of dereliction, the city erupted in one giant party that lasted till dawn and set the scene for the ultimate Mardi Gras celebrations over the coming week.
People poured on to the streets in the team’s black and gold colours, dancing, hugging and weeping. “Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?” they chanted. Jazz bands let rip. Bars blasted out When the Saints Go Marching in. Fireworks exploded.
Police officers gave up the pretence of staying aloof and joined the pulsating throngs. Strippers stopped dancing. Priests and nuns joined the uproar. The city’s newspaper, The Times-Picayune, printed nearly 200,000 extra copies of an edition that is certain to become a collector’s item. Even dogs were dressed in Saints shirts, and Mitch Landrieu’s election on Saturday as New Orleans’ first white mayor in three decades was overshadowed.

Las Vegas has the gambling dens and bright lights but when America wants to party hard, when the people want to let their hair down and not give two hoots how it looks, they head for the Crescent City.
The Big Easy has long had a reputation as a modern-day Sodom, a place where anything goes, where you can drink all day and all night, and where you are viewed a little strangely if you don’t.
It is a city of strip clubs and street hustlers, home of Mardi Gras and a place where, in the middle of the afternoon, women rip off tops and bras, and let it all hang out on Bourbon Street for no more reward than a baying crowd and a few necklaces of festival beads.

Currently producing the kind of should-he-stay-or-should-he-go-now chorus that would make any fan of The Clash proud is a man who has made clashes his stock-in-trade, Rahm Emanuel. Some say he is thinking of running for Mayor of Chicago — although the foul-mouthed and intemperate Rahm seems far too refined and “clean” a politician to make it in Illinois Democratic politics. (To soak in the full sludge, read up on the recent flame out of the just-selected Illinois democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, Scott Cohen. After winning the primary for his party’s nomination, he was pressured by his running mate to drop out because Cohen, who made his millions a pawn broker, was a roid-using, deadbeat Dad accused of beating his ex-wife and a hooker ex-girlfriend he got to know at a massage parlor. And this is the guy who won the race…)

LOUISIANA: Ecstatic fans poured into
the streets of the French Quarter late on Sunday as storm-scarred New Orleans
celebrated its first-ever Super Bowl win by their beloved Saints.
A
city famous for diversions – Mardi Gras, music and colourful politics, to name a
few – set aside distractions to focus on the big game. Even the strippers on
bawdy Bourbon Street stopped dancing. Instead, they joined thousands of
revellers cheering the Saints on live television sets at nearby bars.
“We have no music, no stages. It’s the first time I’ve seen a club
shut down and I’ve been doing this for five years,” said Sam Stonebraker, 34, a
host at Rick’s Cabaret. “The game is pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime event in
this city.” White fireworks burst in the distance. Strangers hugged, whooped and
hollered in the streets, waving flags, shaking cowbells and dancing to
spontaneous brass bands. College students embraced restaurant waiters. A
homeless man toasted beers with well-dressed tourists. Cameras flashed.
Motorists honked horns with a cheerful cadence usually heard only at Carnival.

UPDATE 2-Under fire, NY governor says he’s not resigning
* May be “last straw” for Paterson, pollster says
* Potential challenger Cuomo has big fund-raising edge
(Adds details, quotes, new paragraphs)
NEW YORK, Feb 8 (Reuters) – New York Governor David Paterson on Monday denied rumors he might resign over potentially scandalous allegations in a forthcoming news report that fueled new speculation about his political future.
Paterson, who already faced a probable challenge for the Democratic Party nomination from state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, took over as governor in 2008 after then-Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned in a prostitution scandal.
Media blogs including the Huffington Post have been reporting The New York Times would soon publish a story so explosive that Paterson would have to resign. Paterson’s spokeswoman called the reports “entirely fabricated” and said Paterson had no intention of resigning.
