Manhattan Adult Entertainment: How To Make NBC’s Loss Your Gain

It dawned on us last week that Chuck runs on the same idea of Dollhouse. Before you start throwing chairs and calling us heretics, consider that both shows feature central characters whose brains have been “upgraded” through the use of worrying technology imprinting them with new skill sets. Only one of these shows, however, argues that the use of this technology leads to an immoral road of prostitution and the total collapse of civilization as we know it; the other has cool Bond riffs and Fight Club being re-enacted in the back of an electronics store. Why? Because NBC shows are about people, not abstract ideas that lead a show to get canceled after two short, problematic seasons! Don’t believe us? Consider how many times Heroes has promised to get back to relatable human stories instead of going superherobatshitcrazy. NBC has no problem with science fiction, as long as you keep it down over there. On the other hand…

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Gedogen, Or Another Modest Proposal

Since the 17th Century, the age of Rembrandt and Vermeer, the good burghers of Amsterdam had to decide how to deal with the world’s oldest profession. Prohibit it or regulate and condone it? When a foreigner visits Amsterdam for the first time, the sight of prostitutes sitting in windows seems shocking. A few days there and you become used to it. It even seems civilized.
We all know it’s illegal for a politician to actually sell a vote, but the Dutch have a word for activities that are illegal, but unofficially tolerated..GEDOGEN. Amsterdam officials don’t use the word “brothel,” they’re known as “alternative businesses.” Isn’t that what our politics has become? An alternative business? There could be sections for older politicians as there are for older prostitutes in Amsterdam. Those running for office could even offer a discount, say for the holidays or a candy cane for the kids.

Manhattan Strip Clubs: Stripper Gets Off Scot-Free in Prostitution Case

A Manhattan judge decided he believes at least one of two strippers from Big Daddy Lou’s Hot Lap Dance Club who say they’re “just selling fantasy.” He threw out prostitution charges against one woman allegedly caught selling sex to an undercover cop. A decision is expected Tuesday on the fate of a second showgirl—porn star Cassandra Malandri. On Friday she took the stand and gave all the dirty details
Malandri is more than your average lap dancer—she’s a porn star better known as Alexia Moore. On Tuesday she disclosed her X-rated activities on the screen, but said that in-person it’s all an act. “I was on top of him. I was touching him on his arms and chest,” said the blonde. “I do an air dance. I was above him.” She denied ever having offered the plain clothes officer a threesome for the price of $5,000, reported the NY Daily News. No mention was made of whether Malandri used the rumored “gay” defense, that she couldn’t possibly …

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: The Tamil Issue: The Political Football of the Presidential Election

Today Rajapaksa has taken the beaten path of Sinhala nationalism to ensure his victory, Fonseka followers, too, are stepping on to the same path. In this election, Sinhala extreme nationalists are delivering the message that Tamils do not have a right to enter into agreements to secure their rights with the ruling parties. They forget that Prabhakaran was not a mere individual. He was a representative of an entire generation which was disillusioned of democratic politics in achieving their rights. That generation made the political football into a huge fireball. It burned the whole country. Once again, major political parties have treated the Tamil issue as marginal, and worse, simply as a channel for making expedient promises. Every one is ready to prostitute the issue for a few more votes. Until this political football becomes another fireball our politicians, I suspect, may play the violin, sing Maharajanenei and kick the football for all it is worth.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Mistress’ revenge billboard seen as sign of Tiger Woods times

Just a few weeks after scores of women stepped eagerly into the limelight to tell the world about their flings with the very married golf star Tiger Woods, YaVaughnie Wilkins, a 41-year-old writer and actor, went public with her romance with tech mogul Charles Phillips.
Wilkins purchased space on at least six billboards, in New York City, Atlanta and San Francisco, that show a smiling couple, in happier days, with a reference to a Web site that shows the pair relaxing on yachts and beaches, and seeing the sights in China and Australia. The site even includes images of the couples’ tickets to President Obama’s inauguration.
Phillips, 50, president of Oracle Corp., serves on Obama’s economic advisory council.
Even after a year with prostitutes becoming advice columnists and mistresses followed by paparazzi, Wilkins’ move has stunned many.

A $101,000 jewel-studded belt buckle in the shape of an American flag was not the only unconventional and illegal purchase by the former head of a Westbury-based body armor company, federal prosecutors now say.
Prosecutors say David Brooks of Manhattan also used company funds illegally to pay for prostitutes for himself and several members of the board of the company he ran, DHB Industries,…
