Manhattan Strip Clubs: DVD Review: ‘The Hurt Locker’ works as explosive thriller

… Moon” (2009, Sony, R, $29) Duncan Jones’ directorial debut might be set in the future but it harkens back to sci-fi classics of the past, particularly “2001: A Space Odyssey” and “Solaris.” Sam Rockwell stars as Sam Bell, an astronaut nearing the end of his three-year contract with Lunar Industries, a company that harvests energy from the dark side of the moon. After a seemingly routine accident, Sam finds himself confronted with a younger, healthier version of himself. Who is this clone, and what’s he up to? Rockwell is a revelation but “Moon” promises more than it delivers. Extras: commentaries and featurettes.
“Big Fan” (2009, Vivendi, R, $27) From “The Wrestler” scripter Robert Siegel comes a refreshingly twisted, pitch-black comedy about the perils and pleasures of obsession. Patton Oswalt tackles the role of Paul Aufiero, a parking garage attendant who lives and breathes for the New York Giants. When he stalks the team’s star quarterback (Jonathan Hamm) to a strip bar and gets a nasty beat-down, …

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Dave Paterson’s Latina lovely

Farrell’s friend and dining companion, special-ed teacher Carol McGuirt, said Paterson and his lady friend, a leggy Latina in her 20s, were ensconced in a cozy, curved banquette for several hours during lunch, and clearly were enjoying each other’s company — immensely.
“A young, young girl was with him,” McGuirt said of Paterson, who was stylishly accoutered in a shiny purple dress shirt and slacks. “I would say they looked like a young couple who are very into each other . . . and enjoying themselves.”
“She was very attractive,” McGuirt said of Paterson’s friend. “They were very close together. He was leaning over and very touching. They were like teenagers.”
Coincidentally, or not, the same steakhouse has been frequented by Eliot Spitzer — whose 2008 resignation as governor after being exposed as a prostitute-loving horn-dog put Paterson in charge of the Empire State.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: ‘Say the Word’ has teen facing sexuality issues

As McKinley is devoted to his delicate wife, Ida, protecting her from scrutiny during her epileptic seizures, Hyde is devoted to Motka, the Russian prostitute he hopes to rescue and marry. Czolgosz is consumed with his objective of shooting the president and has convinced himself that it is ”Red Emma” Goldman’s desire that he do so; he had met the famous radical in Cleveland and fantasizes that he is her confederate. The authorities, in fact, are desperate to tie Czolgosz to Goldman.

Say the Word, the second novel for young adults by Strongsville author Jeannine Garsee, is the story of a 16-year-old girl at the center of a domestic firestorm.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: As O’Brien nears deal to leave NBC, his ratings soar

Settlement talks continued yesterday on a deal that would let Mr. O’Brien leave NBC and restore Mr. Leno to the 11:35 p.m. time slot he occupied for 17 years through last spring.
Mr. O’Brien’s ratings have been rising through the week, which was an extraordinary one in late-night television and saw Mr. O’Brien and Mr. Letterman hurling barbed remarks at Mr. Leno, who fired back.
Mr. Leno averaged 5.2 million viewers per night on his last season at the “Tonight” show, Nielsen said. Mr. O’Brien is averaging 2.5 million this season.
Mr. O’Brien’s team sees the ratings as vindication. His manager, Gavin Polone, compared it to when Mr. Leno, trailing Mr. Letterman in the ratings in the mid-1990s, drew attention for the memorable appearance of Hugh Grant after his arrest for soliciting a prostitute. Mr. Leno passed Mr. Letterman in popularity and never looked back.

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: Baby’s body found sealed in concrete in Rubbermaid tub

Baby’s body found sealed in concrete in Rubbermaid tub
In New York, a Brooklyn couple is accused of forcing an illegal immigrant, a Mexican woman, into becoming a prostitute to pay her smuggling debt. They waited until after she had the baby she was carrying. That baby was beaten to death, authorities say. The 2-month-old’s body was found sealed in concrete in a Rubbermaid tub. Nobody has been charged with the child’s murder yet.
Hat Tip: Many thanks, cripjak

Manhattan Adult Entertainment: O’Brien Talks Down to Final Details

For much of the past six months, Mr. O’Brien has been losing almost 2 million viewers from the audiences Mr. Leno formerly reached. But many of those were older viewers. His losses among viewers between 18 and 49 years old were a considerably smaller portion of that falloff. Mr. O’Brien’s audience has consistently had a much lower median age than what Mr. Leno scored—and even lower than his main competitor, David Letterman on CBS.
In the past week, Mr. Polone pointed out, Mr. O’Brien – in the midst of his hugely publicized rift with NBC — has soared in the ratings, dwarfing the number Mr. Leno scored a year ago in the young audience NBC prizes.
He used that success to argue that Mr. O’Brien should have received more time in the 11:35 time period, citing the attention surrounding the battle with the network as the kind of event-like incident that could ignite a late-night star’s ratings. He pointed to the famous interview Mr. Leno conducted with the actor Hugh Grant after he was in the news for soliciting a prostitute.
