The fundraising information, disclosed before the state Board of Elections deadline yesterday, covers the past six months, a period in which Paterson has struggled with the Legislature over the state budget and received voter approval ratings of 40 percent or less. A Dec. 15 Quinnipiac University poll showed Cuomo’s approval rating at 74 percent.
Lazio’s Funds
Republican Rick Lazio, a former U.S. congressman from Long Island, said yesterday in a text message to supporters that he has raised $1.4 million since declaring his gubernatorial candidacy in September.
Paterson, 55, a former Senate minority leader, was lieutenant governor and became the state’s chief executive in March 2008 when former Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned amid a prostitution scandal. Paterson’s father, Basil, is a labor lawyer and founder of the Harlem-based political organization that elected U.S. Representative Charles Rangel and former New York City Mayor David Dinkins.

The first few questions got pretty generic answers from Kimmel, but when Leno asked his late-night competitor to describe the best prank he’s ever pulled, he said, “I told a guy that, ‘Five years from now, I’m gonna give you my show,’ and then when the five years came, I gave it to him, and then took it back almost instantly.”
When Leno asked if Kimmel ever orders anything off the TV, Kimmel quipped, “Like NBC ordered your show off the TV?”, and when Jay asked Las-Vegas-raised Jimmy what his record is for the number of lap-dances received in one night, the answer was, “Strippers, I don’t like in general, because you have this phony relationship with them for money, similar to that of when you and Conan were together on The Tonight Show, passing the torch.”

Under the proposed ordinance, fees for copies of municipal certificates of birth, marriage, death and burial all would jump from from $5 to $25. Licenses for retail food establishments that do not offer seating, which are billed on a sliding scale based on square footage, would cost 50 to 90 percent more, depending on the size of the eatery. And licenses for sit-down restaurants, billed on a sliding scale based on number of seats, would double or even triple.
Municipal business licenses must be renewed annually. If a retail food establishment is inspected by the Health Division and rates conditionally satisfactory or unsatisfactory, under the proposed ordinance a reinspection surcharge fee would jump from a flat $40 fee to $100 for a first reinspection, $200 for a second and $500 for a third. The ordinance also would demand annual license renewals for several types of businesses that currently are not required to have them, including self-service laundromats, barber shops, beauty salons and massage parlors.

Lady Gaga Talks Buying Stripper Shoes and Painting Herself Blue on ‘Oprah’

Looking like a goth Statue of Liberty, Lady Gaga took to the stage on Friday’s “Oprah” dressed in head-to-toe gold spikes while dragging a ball and chain.
She sang a medley of hits in a shaky off-key voice (was Gaga nervous?) and seemed worried about a potential wardrobe malfunction tugging repeatedly at the heavily embellished fabric of her black off-the-shoulder jumpsuit.
…
She took credit for creating the “disco bra” she wore in her “Just Dance” video and teased the audience saying, “I won’t tell you my bra size though.” She also confessed her bargain fashion obsession, “I love stripper shoes. So we buy very inexpensive ones and embellish them.”

… I would assume they are going to go out and try to develop it, because they have to develop the market. That’s what I had to do with [Ron] Artest and Stephen [Jackson],” Walsh told ESPN.com. “I mean, nobody’s going to call you up and say ‘I want the guy.’ So you’ve got to call up, and it takes time.”
Walsh said the situation was comparable to the time when he was president of the Indiana Pacers and was forced by ownership to trade Artest after the infamous Palace brawl, and again after Jackson was arrested for firing a handgun outside a strip club. (Jackson eventually pleaded guilty to a felony and was suspended for 7 games, the league office apparently deciding that his actions were not egregious enough to merit the minimum 10-game suspension mandated in the collective bargaining agreement for any player convicted of a violent felony.)
